Qualifications

1.  / High School diploma or equivalent or special diploma required.
2.  / Ten (10) years’ experience in common plumbing applications, or
3.  / Seven (7) years verifiable field experience and completion of an accredited vocational school, or
4.  / A valid master’s card and three (3) years’ additional field experience.
5.  / Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Job Goal
Complete assigned work at a master level in the repair/installation of domestic plumbing throughout the facility and grounds.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Good working knowledge of basic plumbing methods, practices, tools, and materials. Good understanding of and ability to make minor repairs to potable, non-potable, and sanitary systems. Knowledge of and ability to make minor repairs to underground irrigation and sprinkler systems. Ability to follow complex directions, both written and verbal. Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints, drawings, and specifications pertaining to plumbing trade. Ability to do lay-outs, plan, and coordinate jobs through completion. Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining the methods and procedures to perform the work. Ability to make materials lists and do take-offs. Ability to order parts and materials and procure needed equipment. Ability to process work orders electronically. Ability to relate to superiors and subordinates issues relative to job.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

1.  / Join various types of pipe and tubing by means of sweating, solver soldering, screw thread, and gluing.
2.  / Make installations/repairs to domestic plumbing applications including drains, waste, and vent.
3.  / Make installations/repairs to underground irrigation and sprinkler systems.
4.  / Unclog drains, vents, and grease traps.
5.  / Prepare materials lists, make simple field drawings, keep simple records, and maintain appropriate paperwork.
6.  / Do lay-outs, plan, schedule, and coordinate various aspects of plumbing tasks and jobs.
7.  / Ability to use industry accepted tools and equipment of the plumbing trade such as jack hammers, concrete saws, hammer drills, sewer machines, and assorted hand tools.
8.  / Provide on-call services pursuant to the on-call schedule.
9.  / Perform other duties as assigned commensurate with the skills and abilities of the position.
10.  / Provide outstanding customer service and use positive interpersonal communications skills.
11.  / Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools’ Organizational Values.
12.  / Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Heavy Work: Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
