St Hilda’s C of E Primary School

PE Grant Summary for the 2015-16 Academic Year

/

At St Hilda’s’ we understand the importance of physical development for each child and have used the P.E Grant to enhance physical education throughout the school. In previous years we have focussed on developing staff expertise in sport and developing opportunities for all children to attend competitions. We have purchased high quality equipment to enhance lessons and children’s experiences. We have part funded the creation of an all-weather pitch in our KS2 playground. From pupil interviews it is evident that the money we have spent so far on resources and training has been successful as children have positive attitudes to learning new skills and sports.

Summary of spending and action to be taken:
  • To develop a partnership with Shooting stars to develop staff expertise through team teaching across key stage 1 and 2 (£1000)
  • Continue development of playground refurbishment, to invest in basketball and netball posts and to ensure the safety of children when playing on the all-weather pitch by installing panelling around the hedges. (£2648.30)
  • To order new equipment to support curriculum needs (£431.70)
  • To order football kits for school football team to promote a unified team and school ethos (£600)
  • To invest in interactive resource to support dance and movement, a programme called CyberCoach (£250)
  • To fund an additional after school club to teach a less high profile sport (£300)
  • To invest in additional sports provision for two lunchtimes a week (£975)
  • To invest in festivals and competitions and provide ample opportunity for all children to attend (£1000)

Expected outcomes:
  • More children experiencing competitive and less high profile sports
  • More regular participation in inclusion festivals.
  • Improvement of teaching and learning for all staff.
  • Greater opportunities for children to learn new skills through the use of more suitable equipment.
  • More children to be involved in sport and to promote positive attitudes to physical development.

Total committed expenditure: £8,230

For the academic year 2015-16 we anticipate the DfE will provide a further £7500 of PE Grant. We plan to continue to focus on developing staff expertise. We aim to work with a highly skilled sports professional to aid teaching and learning across the school. We will be continuing our provision of equipment to ensure lessons are resourced to a good standard thus promoting more enjoyment for the children. We will also be developing opportunities for children to attend after school clubs to learn less high profile sports.
