FSO-COMMUNICATIONS (CM): Larry Truesdell

Per AUXDATA, we now have 62 members in FL22-01. Welcome all the new/transfers.
Unfortunately, we didn't gain much re qualified CREW and COX. Per AUXDATA, it appears that some Crew and Cox are going to let their qualifications expire. Please update me if that is not the case and I will add REYR folks to the next edition.
Attached is a current internal roster for you new folks. Item highlighted in yellow are missing or need attention this year. PLEASE review your individual data and let me know of any corrections needed. For new transfer members, please also provide your ID expire date. The intent of the Roster is to provide an accounting of those folks with CURRENT qualifications.
I still need to update our internal Calling Tree. Stay tuned.
For those new members to the FL who don’t know, I am in Thule, Greenland, until the end of Sep.

BOAT CREW TRAINING 2012 Completed classroom in early May; several members of 22-04 have been availing themselves of available on-water exercises, which will continue after the OPSAIL event. Boat crew students MUST have 28 hours underway before a QE request is made; I recommend you participate in underway/on-water practice until your confidence level is such that the QE will be impressed. Some boat crew students need sign-offs to get ‘caught up.’ Please see any mentor for this. ICS/NIMS 100 and 700 are also a requirement for CREW, and 200 and 800 for coxswains(along with the NAVRULES closed book). The study material and testing can be completed on-line - for ICS-

100 and You MUST print out the certificate of completion keep a copy and get one to your FSO-IS for entry into AUXDATA.

An e-mail ‘bang list’ is held by the DCDR and I, we’ll be continuing to distribute on-water training opportunities to BCQ students. Don’t just assume and show up; let whoever makes the schedule know you are coming. You must have all required PPE. BCQ students needing PPE please e-mail me with your requests – I have minimal PPE- a few PFDs and minimal attachments – you need a whistle, PML, and mirror, plus the reflective tape already on most CGAUX PFDs.

OPSAIL 2012 – Thanks to all members that assisted, shore-side and on-water; remember that we’ll likely be doing this all over again in 2014.

OPERATIONS MEETING - As yet not scheduled, is planned for mid to late-July, at Berry Hall, depending on space availability. The syllabus will include POMS installation and use training, Bettering skills, and regatta preparedness.
