The Leadership Middle Tennessee (LMT) President provides staff leadership for the Leadership Middle Tennessee program, a ten-county regional leadership organization. The executive director interacts directly with Leadership Middle Tennessee’s Board of Directors, particularly the executive committee, and all Leadership Middle Tennessee alumni/current class members.

Position Requirements

·  Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience

·  Graduate of a leadership program (LMT is desirable, but not required)

·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn Quick Books and donor management system (Bloomerang) software. Understanding of Outlook Contacts is critical to ensure correct contact information for all LMT alumni.

·  Proficient at website updating and social media tools (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram)

·  Excellent written and verbal skills

·  Experience working with volunteers

·  Understanding of the nature of the LMT program, alumni status is a plus

·  Understanding of financial reporting and budgets

·  Knowledge of Middle Tennessee’s ten county region

·  Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents

·  Regular off site travel requires personal transportation and valid driver's license

·  Ability to professionally represent LMT among key leaders and constituencies

·  Experience in special events preferred

·  Fundraising experience preferred

Principal Areas of Responsibility

·  Implements the annual Leadership Middle Tennessee program including ten monthly programs, an annual new class kick off, including annual alumni summit and welcome reception, and the commencement celebration event

·  Works with the LMT Program Committee and County Planning Teams to ensure the consistency of quality programs

o  Coordinates the topics and annual program calendar for each session (a session lasts a day and a half and involves all ten counties), working with LMT Program Committee, County Planning teams, and county alumni

o  Assist and support the County Planning teams for program logistics as needed, including meeting sites, centralized transportation contract, and meals in each of the ten counties where sessions are hosted

o  Determine the class hotel arrangements for the entire program year, based on recommendations from the County Alumni and pricing.

·  Supports Leadership Middle Tennessee Executive Committee, board and board committees including agenda development, distribution of minutes, meeting site location, on-going board communication, board succession planning, board governance, and works with board leadership to ensure board fulfills its duties

·  Works with finance committee to ensure appropriate budgeting, monitoring, expense control and reporting. Prepares monthly and annual financial reports with assistance from outsourced bookkeeper.

·  Works with development and program committees to ensure sufficient annual giving and in-kind support to achieve budget, ensure a cash reserve, and adequate monthly session funding.

·  Develops appropriate grant requests for funding

·  Prepares correspondence including thank you letters, solicitation letters, new class recruitment and selection, etc.

·  Supports alumni activities including:

o  Annual alumni summit and reception

o  Alumni events in each county or each class

·  Works with Selection Committee Chair and Alumni Committee Chair to coordinate annual alumni recruitment events in each of the ten counties

·  Works with Selection Committee to manage the annual selection process, including promotion, development of materials and support of the selection committee

·  Provides for the smooth operation of the Leadership Middle Tennessee office

·  Serves as an ambassador for LMT, representing the organization at major events in the region and seek speaking engagements to raise the program’s visibility

·  Working with the communications and marketing committee, coordinates preparation of news releases, updating the web site, posts to social media, and writes alumni blast newsletters and/or emails. Prepares formal on-line and snail mail event invitations which require an RSVP.

·  Work with current class to ensure outstanding LMT experience over the class year. Solicit feedback from class after each program session. Work with current class on class projects.
