Cell: 980-333-8019
Purpose: The cheerleading program here at West Mecklenburg High School will promote school/community spirit. Each participant will be responsible for crowd participation. The cheerleader will be expected to complete this task while conducting themselves as young ladies/leaders.
Attendance Requirements: If you are absent then the team is put at jeopardy at reaching its full potential. This can be detrimental to your team members and very dangerous. As a team we are not allowed to have alternates therefore all practices/games are mandatory. Cheerleaders are expected to remain in school all day however, I understand there are emergencies and only those will be excused at the coach’s discretion.
Grades: The cheerleaders of WMHS are looked at highly upon in the classroom and amongst the student body, therefore the participants grades are expected to exemplify that at all times. The cheerleader’s grades will be looked at throughout the season. The cheerleaders will need to maintain a “C” average and above. If students are struggling a meeting will be arranged and further action may need to happen. In order to tryout we need a copy of your most recent Report Card prior to try-outs. Due 7/31/17
Uniforms: Uniforms are the school’s property and will be issued to a cheerleader. They will be responsible for the cleanliness and up-keep. All expenses will be incurred if there is any damage to the property.
Transportation: All cheerleaders must ride the team bus to away activities. If a cheerleader wishes to ride home with a parent notification is needed. The cheerleaders are only released to parents and/or guardian which should be made clear before a game. Also cheerleaders are required to be picked up immediately after practices and games. Causing the coach to wait will accumulate in disciplinary action.
Workouts: We will also offer Workout/Stretch sessions on June 20th, 22nd, 27th, 29th, July 11th,13th,25th, and the,27thfrom 6:00-8:00, to keep any potential participant in shape and ready for the try-outs season that is around the corner. All clinics and workout sessions offered in the summer are optional and do not count against you when it comes time for final selection. These opportunities areoffered for you to meet new friends, work on skills whether it is flying, basing, or back/front spotting and to have bonding activities with some potential team/classmates.
Camps: TBD
Fundraiser: This current school year we are participating in the DNC Panther Stadium fundraiser. We have selected the dates that the cheerleaders will be required to work at the stadium. Parents this is a team effort which requires your participation. We are requiring that the girls work these events and we need you to accompany them at least 1 to 2 of these times. We will also use those funds to compete in other local events as well. If your student athlete cannot participate in these fundraisers they will be required to pay for these activities and others that will be paid for out of that allotment
