Common Purpose is an international, not-for-profit organisation that has been running leadership courses which mix people from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors for over 20 years.

North West Region
Common Purpose North West first started in 1991 and has two offices: Common Purpose Greater Manchester and Common Purpose Lancashire/Cumbria. The two teams work closely together and deliver courses for early career and established professionals/executives across the North West region.
We also offercustomised workshops and courses for organisations looking to create something more bespoke for their staff teams, as well as courses for students at undergraduate level with local Universities. Whether open courses, customised or student courses, we involve a diverse mix of individuals from across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in order to broaden participants' vision and perspectives.
Main purpose of the role
Working in the Greater Manchester team, the main purpose of this role is to design and deliver Common Purpose educational courses - this includes both open courses and customised work.There will also be a sales element supporting the Operations Director.

Responsibilities
1)Planning and delivering course activities & developing the curriculum
- Plan and deliver challenging, balanced and relevant activities for all courses.
- Facilitate all courses to ensure the involvement of all participants and maximum impact.
- Where this role involves working with under-18 year olds, a disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau will be required.
- Participate in the development of new curriculum ideas and techniques.
2)Sales/ Client Management
- Work with the Operations Director to recruit a senior and diverse participant group drawing from an ever-widening pool each year and address weak areas of recruitment.
- Build and sustain relationships with a diverse range of organisationsand people in senior positions and key decision-makers
- Use Common Purpose Office and the intranet to maximise the work of Common Purpose locally and UK wide.
3)PromotingCommon Purpose in Greater Manchester
- Ensure that the Common Purpose image locally is high profile, independent and professional.
- Promote and deliver the Common Purpose campaign and vision within the framework of Common Purpose structures (the Charter, Charter@Work, management and governance structures).
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new ideas at a local, regional and national level.
4)Internal Stakeholder Management
- Link graduates into the running of Common Purpose activities whenever possible.
- Deliver graduate activities in accordance with the graduate strategy.
- Work effectively with local Common Purpose Chair and Advisory Group in accordance with Common Purpose governance arrangements.
5)Resource Management
- Manage, motivate and develop all staff reporting to you, operating effectively within the Common Purpose management structure (where applicable).
- Manage an efficient local office, which maximises the use of Common Purpose systems and implements all policies and procedures (where applicable).
6)Financial management
- Monitor and report accurately on the position to date and future financial status on time, on a monthly basis.
- Raise sufficient income to meet targets set by line manager.
- Ensure invoices are sent out and debts are collected promptly

Qualifications, experience and competences
- Strong experience of chairingprogrammes and inspiring confidence in senior and diverse groups.
- The ability to steer a balanced and non-aligned path especially under pressure.
- Ability to use diversity to strengthen the programme.
- Experience writing proposals, tenders and feedback reports for customers
- Demonstrable sound knowledge of local, national issues and current affairs.
- Ability to demonstrating sensitivity; being responsive to different situations and personalities.
- Experience of building sustainable relationships, persuading, and gaining support for campaigns and courses at a senior level across all sectors.
- Experience of appropriately marketinggoods and services across a range of sectors
- The ability to recruit high quality participants for courses from across all sectors.
- The ability to motivate, manage a small team and work effectively within a team.
- Experience running an effective and efficient office.
- Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English
- Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office
- Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions and cultures
- Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
- Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues
- Able and willing to travel to remote locations for short periods of time and at short notice
