Minutes from working group meeting - Natural Assets, Open Space and Countryside

16th June - All Saints Church

Attendees – Jeremy Calderwood, Brian Justice, Carmen Boyes, Lorraine Boot, Tracy Smethers, Enid Hindson, John, Brian and Rita Gibbins

Apologies – Celia Frost, Karen Glazebrook, Dee and Richard Seward, Ricky Vallance and Avril Judge

·  Welcome new comers to the group – Enid Hindson, Brian Gibbins, John Gibbins and Rita Gibbins

·  LB gave a brief précis of what we are trying to do in respect of the Neighbourhood plan (‘NP’), what we hope it will achieve, and what we need to do to build our plan

·  Discussed the titles we are grouping our ‘requirements/wish list’ into and who is pulling together the elements we feel we should include for the open day on the 5th July

·  JG presented a draft paper on Harpole Allotment Association requirements to be included in the NP, these were read out and discussed and all in agreement should be included. JG volunteered to take action to make further contribution in respect of the wildlife that occupy the allotments and to gain views and signatures from allotment holders and any supporters of the allotments

·  LB to send JG documents from previous meetings including the evidence base template to use for gathering villagers opinions/comments to support the end plan

·  General discussion followed on other thoughts about our green spaces, including the wildlife that we need to protect (and encourage if possible by gaining new habitats), walkways, views (including skylines), trees, woods etc.,

·  JG volunteered to take some photos of views of the village we need to protect, as well as walkways that are both good, plus in need of repair, and to document from his knowledge what flora and fauna we should protect and attempt to provide habitats to encourage.

·  All to continue with actions from last week’s meeting
