AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE ROEBUCK BAPTIST CHURCH OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF ITS HISTORIC ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO COMMEND THE CHURCH FOR A CENTURY OF SERVICE TO GOD AND THE COMMUNITY.

Whereas, having been founded on December 30, 1911, Roebuck Baptist Church of Spartanburg County celebrated its historic one hundredth anniversary in 2011; and

Whereas, as a Southern Baptist congregation with a rich tradition in its community,Roebuck Baptist holds to the truth of Scripture and conservative values. Offering programs for all ages, it is a familyoriented church currently led by Dr. Tim Williams, who has served as senior pastor since October 1995; and

Whereas, its members, believing Christ’s servants should make a positive difference in the lives of those among whom they dwell, are very active in their community. They support many local ministries, as well as missions all over the world, serve on local boards, and volunteer their time in the community; and

Whereas, on Sunday, January 29, 2012, the congregation of Roebuck Baptist will hold a special worship service to give thanks to Almighty God for one hundred years of His blessing on the church’s ministry; and

Whereas, standing on the faith and strength of its early pastors and members, Roebuck Baptist Church’s present congregation “presses toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14), continuing to preach and teach the Word of God; and

Whereas, Roebuck Baptist Churchhas been a beacon of light and a community worship center in Roebuck for a hundred years, and, God willing, will continue its godly heritage in many more years of worship and service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Roebuck Baptist Churchof Spartanburg County on the occasion of its historic one hundredth anniversary and commend the church for a century of service to God and the community.
