A motion was made to begin discussion for these curricular proposals.
The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote.
Several guests from the Department of Mathematics addressed questions raised by CAPC
regarding the Ph.D. degree programs in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Mathematics Education.
After discussion, a motion was made to approve all new Ph.D. degree programs submitted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
There was a request to remove the College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation proposal from the consent agenda for further discussion:

The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote.
College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation
Implementation of a New Degree Program
M.S. in Clinical Research Management (CRM)
A motion was made to begin discussion for this curricular proposal.
The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote.
Phil Regier and Marjorie Baldwin attended CAPC on behalf of the W.P. Carey School of Business.
Dr. Regier and Marjorie Baldwin explained that the degree program offered by Carey School offers the unique training needed to prepare students to be leaders in broad healthcare organizations.
There are rigorous standards for students being admitted to the Carey School degree program, as well as fees paid by students enrolled in this program.
Dr. Bernadette Melnyk, Dean of the College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation addressed CAPC and discussed the differentiation between the Carey School degree, and the proposed new M.S. in Clinical Research Management offered by the College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation.
Dr. Melnyk explained that this degree prepares students within the healthcare field for in depth clinical trials, protocols, etc. The CRM degree will assist students in the day to day operation in the community, and hospitals, etc.
Linda Mottle and Kim Arcoleo from CONHI informed CAPC that CRM courses are specifically and only for this Clinical Research Management degree.
A recommendation was made by CAPC to table this curricular proposal, pending the submission of a revised proposal by June 1, 2008.
The revisions can be reviewed and discussed on-line before going forward to UAC for review.
A motion was made to table this curricular proposal, pending revisions by June 1, 2008.
The motion to table pending revisions was approved by majority voice vote.
There were two votes opposed.
