Biographical Note:

George William Curtis was born August 11, 1879. In 1900, he lived in Black, Posey County, Indiana, with his father George, his mother Ruth J., and his brother Ben W., age 19. George was 21 at the time of the 1900 census. Ten years later, George William Curtis, age 31, was living in Mt. Vernon, Posey County, with his wife Irene, age 28.

George attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He was an attorney in Mt. Vernon.

Scope and Content:

Twenty letters addressed to George W. Curtis comprise this collection. The first six letters were written between May 7, 1901 and Oct. 17, 1902, and deal with some problem George had with the administration of Indiana University and his being a part of the class of 1900.

There are three letters from the National Union Fire Insurance of Pittsburg, Pa., dealing with delinquent payments. All of them are signed R. C. Clark, special agent.

Seven letters on half sheets are from The National Agency, Indianapolis, Indiana, concerning claims adjustments and settlements. They are signed F. H. Sterling, Jr., Manager.

One half sheet typed message is from the law offices of Morris & Newberger, Indianapolis, about the case of Kiefer Drug Co. v. Mark L. Kahn, dated November 21, 1908.

The last three letters are from Henry C. Price, attorney in Indianapolis, and refer to Estelle Stevens who owed Star Millinery Company $74.83 in 1908.
