SATELLITE FALLING
A 6 -TON SATELLITE IS FALLING TOWARD EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE. THE SATELLITE IS EXPECTED TO HIT THE EARTH’S SURFACE AS EARLY AS TOMORROW. NASA SAYS THAT OF THE 6 TONS, ONLY ABOUT 26 SEPARATE COMPONENTS OF THE SATELLITE WILL SURVIVE THE ATMOSPHERE, WEIGHING AROUND 1,200 POUNDS. THE DEBRIS FIELD WILL BE AROUND 400 TO 500 MILES IN DIAMETER.
ALTHOUGH THE LOCATION OF THE EXPECTED CRASH IS UNKNOWN, SCIENTISTS SAY THAT IT IS EXTREMELY UNLIKELY THAT ANYONE WILL BE HARMED. HUMANS, THEY SAY, ONLY USE UP TO 5 PERCENT OF THE EARTH’S SURFACE.
