Reverse Osmosis (RO) has become an accepted unit process for treatment of surface, ground water, sea water and wastewater. Indian water treatment industry is looking forward to more than 20% annual growth in the RO related business in the next 5 years.
Although thousands of RO systems are in operation, an equal number is facing operating troubles such as reduced production, inferior treated water quality, and frequent replacement of membranes – all leading to increased operation costs and increased operating headaches too.
Almost everyone in the industry knows that the critical success factor for RO is the pre-treatment. But more said than done, a lot remains to be done by the designers, engineers, operators and alike.
Ultra filtration and Membrane Bio Reactor are two pre-treatment techniques that can eliminate several potential problems in RO systems. Use of these processes is increasing rapidly in the country and coming years will see an exponential growth in the installation of membrane pre-treatment systems.

This One-Day training program will be conducted by Mr. Satish Chilekar. Mr. Chilekar is recognized for his contribution to the Indian membrane technology sector. One of the pioneers in this field, starting with India’s first indigenous RO system, he has worked extensively on various membrane projects for the past 29 years. He is a Researcher, Trainer and Technical Advisor to several organizations in India and abroad.
