5.0General Business

  • Sue thanked the committee for their continued commitment towards the Wandandian community.

  • Sue put forward the motion that court hire fees remain the same. Moved by Sue Campbell, Seconded by Kaye Hilaire.
  • A sausage sizzle would be held on the last Wednesday of the month at morning social tennis.
  • It was suggested that community tennis evenings be introduced on a quarterly basis, on the last Sunday, from 6pm. All members of the community would be welcome. Eve offered to do up a flyer and Kaye will announce the event at the August Progress Meeting for the first event on Sunday 26 September.
  • Signatories for the bank have been changed to include Eve Bray.
  • Sue Campbell put forward the motion that Robert Edwards be removed as a signatory from the Bank Account. Moved by Sue Campbell and Seconded by Carol Rankin.

  • The search locally for a suitable water squeegee for the courts would continue with Masters in Shellharbour a possibility.
  • Sue suggested that Besser blocks be constructed around the rubbish pile near the fire shed. Richard would bring the matter up at the next Volunteer Rural Fire Service meeting in September.
  • Sue reported that as a result of a successful motion put to the last Wandandian Progress Association Meeting, future Sport and Rec Committee meetings will now be held following Wandandian Progress Meetings on the first Tuesday of the month for the months of: March, June, September and December. These new meeting times will allow for greater transparency to the community on Sport and Rec activities and may even encourage further community interest in committee activities.

WANDANDIAN RECREATION RESERVE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

AGM JULY 6TH 2016

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

AS INDICATED AT LAST YEARS AGM WE PURCHASED A TANDEM BULLRIDER.THIS EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED BY OUR MAINTENANCE MAN CHRIS CAMPBELL WITH ASSITANCE FROM VOLUNTEER DARRELL GOSS AND GROUNDWORK COMPLETED BY LOCAL DAN WELLMAN.THE EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED IN TIME FOR THE ANNUAL WOODCHOP AND HAS PROVED A POPULAR ADDITION TO OUR PLAYGROUND.

WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY COUNCIL THAT OVERNIGHT CAMPING IS TO BE DISCOURAGED FOLLOWING A COMPLAINT BY A LOCAL.THIS HAS BEEN A DISAPPOINTMENT TO US AS CAMPERS WERE A GOOD BOOST TO OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES AND ENGENDERED A LOT OF GOOD WILL FAR AND WIDE.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO LIASE WITH COUNCIL REGARDING THIS ISSUE. AS THERE IS NO ACTUAL SIGNAGE TO THE CONTRARY OVERNIGHT STOPS BY CARAVANS AND MOTORHOMES ARE INEVITABLE. WE HAVE REMOVED ANY SIGNS REGARDING DONATIONS FOR THE TIME BEING.

OUR GROUNDS CONTINUE TO LOOK FANTASTIC SO A BIG THANK YOU TO CHRIS CAMPBELL FOR HIS ONGOING ASSISTANCE.

TENNIS COURT USAGE COULD STILL DO WITH A BOOST AND WE WILL LOOK INTO SOME MORE ADVERTISING OF SAME ESPECIALLY THE COST WHICH IS CONSIDERABLY LOWER THAN OTHER COURTS IN THE AREA.

AT THE MAY MEETING THE COMMITTEE WAS UNAMIMOUS IN THEIR DECISION TO PUT A MOTION TO THE JUNE 2016 PROGRESS MEETING TO RUN FUTURE QUARTERLY MEETINGS AFTER PROGRESS MEETINGS IN ORDER TO GIVE THE WANDANDIAN COMMIUNITY THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE INFORMED AND/OR INVOLVED IN THE MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL DECISIONS MADE AROUND THE MAINTENANCE AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF THE RESERVE LOCATED AROUND THE PROGRESS HALL. AS THE MOTION WAS SUCCESSFUL, FUTURE SPORT AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETINGS WILL NOW BE HELD FOLLOWING WANDANDIAN PROGRESS MEETINGS ON THE FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH FOR THE MONTHS OF: MARCH, JUNE, SEPTEMBER AND DECEMBER. THE FIRST COMBINED MEETING IS SCHECDULED FOR 6 SEPTEMBER 2016.

ALL IN ALL ANOTHER GOOD YEAR.

SUE CAMPBELL, PRESIDENT
