Hours of Duty

A 37½-hour week is worked (excluding lunch break) Monday – Friday, normally 8.30 a.m.–5.00 p.m.

Place of Work

Pembroke College at the Main College Site.

Remuneration

Payment is monthly in arrears on 25th of each month by credit transfer into your Bank/Building Society.

Salary £26,000-£28,000 per annum, depending on experience. Reviews are held annually on 1st August. Increases are not guaranteed each year but are at the discretion of the College.

Pension

You will be automatically enrolled into the OSPS Pension Scheme administered by the University of Oxford.

Holiday

The holiday year runs from 1 October - 30 September. The two May public holidays, which fall in term, are normally worked. Authorisation to take either of the May public holidays as annual leave must be obtained from your Line Manager. You will be entitled to 30 days’ holiday in each year, plus the remaining public holidays. At the College’s discretion, a sufficient number of days leave must be retained from your annual holiday entitlement to cover the College’s Christmas Closure period. Your holiday dates should be agreed in advance with your Line Manager and you should give reasonable notice in this regard.

Sickness and Sick Pay

You will be paid your normal basic remuneration, less the amount of statutory sick pay (SSP) or Social Security Sickness Benefits (SSSB) to which you may be entitled, for the following periods in any one twelve month period:

6 months – 2 years / 2 weeks full pay + 2 weeks half pay
2-4 years / 4 weeks full pay + 4 weeks half pay
4-6 years / 6 weeks full pay + 6 weeks half pay
6-8 years / 8 weeks full pay + 8 weeks half pay
8-10 years / 10 weeks full pay 10 weeks half pay
10 years and over / 13 weeks full pay + 13 weeks half pay

“Service” means the total period of employment by the College. The College may at any time request a doctor’s certificate.

Meals

Normally lunch is provided by the College if seven hours or more are worked per day. When less than seven hours are worked, you may be entitled to a free meal depending upon when the hours are worked. Meals are not provided when the kitchen or catering areas are closed. The lunch break is not part of your paid hours.

Training

All employees are required to undertake relevant training as directed by their Line Managers.

Probationary Period

There is a probationary period of six months during which time the College when terminating employment will give one week’s notice in writing and one month’s notice in writing will be required from the employee.

Notice

Five years’ service or more – one week for each year of service up to a maximum of 12 weeks

If you leave without giving the required notice a deduction from salary due may be made.

College Property

Upon termination of your employment with the College for whatever reason you shall forthwith return all correspondence, documents and other papers, magnetic discs, tapes or other software storage media, student information and all other property belonging to the College which may be in your possession or under your control.

Confidentiality

You are not, other than in the proper course of your employment with the College, to use or to disclose to anyone any information of a confidential nature relating to the College or to its business or trade secrets.

Contract

This is a permanent position.

At all times your employment is subject to the provision of original documentation to establish your right to work and remain in the UK, which the College requires in order to comply with its duties under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. It will remain your responsibility to ensure that you are able to produce such documentation as and when requested from you.
