AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF OSTEEN MISHOE OF GOOSE CREEK AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Osteen Mishoe of Goose Creek on March 28, 2016; and

Whereas, born to Wiley and Grace Stevens Mishoe of Loris, Osteen Mishoe entered this world on September 18, 1927, when the twentieth century was still in its youth, and he was a witness to nearly all the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the second decade of the twentyfirst century; and

Whereas, the young Osteen grew up on a farm andafter high schooljoined the United States Navy, where he served during World War II in the South Pacific. He also supported Operation Deep Freeze (Antarctica) and served in Vietnam. The Navy returned Chief Mishoe to South Carolina in 1972, and after serving his country for thirtyeight years, he retired as a master chief in 1983; and

Whereas, in the fullness of time, he metthe lovely Zelda Hinson, and the two were joined in a marriage that lasted sixtyfive years. God blessed their union withfour children, Deborah, Rhonda, Larry, and Michael; eleven grandchildren; and eleven greatgrandchildren. Osteenloved and enjoyed visiting them all; and

Whereas, when time permitted, Osteen Mishoerelished gardening and working on cars. In addition, this man of faith worshipped his God at Deer Park Baptist Church and was named deacon emeritus by his fellow members in 2004. For many years, he fed the hungry of the North Charleston area through his volunteer work administering the church food pantry; and

Whereas, Osteen Mishoeleaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Zelda Mishoe; his children, Deborah Kyle Mishoe, Rhonda Carol Self, Larry Clayton Mishoe, and Michael Paul Mishoe, Sr.; his grandchildren, Scott, Kelly, Kyle, Tracy, Matthew, Aaron, Benjamin, Andrew, Sarah, Paul, and Susan; his greatgrandchildren, Abigail, Eden, Benjamin, Bethany, Amelia, Isaac, Hannah, Hudson, Noah, Micah, and Sawyer; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Osteen Mishoe of Goose Creek and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Zelda Mishoe for the family.
