Discussion and report about the next teacher SNAD day that will be used for creating student data books. Land Trust funds for professional development will be used to pay teachers for this work time. One half of the day will be used for posting grades as per the District, and the other half will be paid by land trust and used for developing the data books.
The data books will have certain common reporting criteria across all grade levels, and will also be able to be individualized for each grade beyond that. Grade levels will decide and create how these will be designed and then will be presented at the next community council meeting after that. (10 min.)
Report about the safety assembly. The police came and presented an assembly about safety for walking and behavior in the parking lot. The police were present on the school premises for two days after the assembly to reinforce the safety guidelines. (10 min)
Discussion about Grade Level Parent Forums by Lesa Taggart. How to organize it, what the purposes would be, and what boundaries should be set. Lesa will be a mediator for it as it gets started to help it be productive and not be a complaining session. They will be held 4:30 to 5:30 in the multipurpose room. The meetings will be held as a way for parents to support each other, communicate, and get information that they need. (10 min.)
Leader in Me update - some things will be moved forward: student data books, student leadership team, and principals taught in the classrooms. (5 min)
Report on the Bully Prevention Plan: read by Lesa Taggart (10 min.)
***Some frustration communicated by the council (parents and teachers) about how many teleparent messages they are receiving. The number and frequency are viewed by some as a nuisance.
