Job Title: Coffee Shop Barista

Responsible to: Coffee Shop Manager

Responsible for: Directly: None

Indirectly: Volunteers / Apprentices

Job Purpose

The role involves supporting and assisting the Coffee Shop Manager with the efficient running of Eden. To support Young People to engage in Volunteering, Apprenticeships or other positive work experience activities within the coffee shop and catering operation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1.  Ensure a unique coffee experience to all of our customers by providing a prompt service, quality beverages / products, maintaining a clean and comfortable atmosphere, whilst working in an extremely high pressured environment. Ensuring excellent customer service from all catering related staff at all times.

2.  Display a genuine passion for great coffee and the catering industry, and manage the unit as if it is their own.

3.  Responsible for increasing sales and contributing ideas for new revenue streams and products.

4.  Display creativity in creating an enjoyable, comfortable environment for customers.

5.  Follow operational policies and procedures, including cash handling, security and health and safety. Follow all cash management and cash register policy duties; ensure proper cash management practices are followed by the shift team.

6.  Ensure that Health and Safety and environmental practices are followed and make suggestions for improvements where necessary.

7.  To ensure all stock procedures are managed and controlled within agreed targets and policies.

8.  Mentor young people within the on-site accommodation and the wider community in coffee shop and catering work.

9.  Support volunteers working within the coffee shop and catering operation.

10. Liaise with internal departments such as; Training & Conferencing and Housing Support departments.

11. Display a confident and enthusiastic attitude at all times, with a great work ethic

12. Experience of working as a barista in a coffee shop ideally to level 3

13. Assist in routine tasks such as cleaning, tidying and preparing the shop for open and closure each day.

14. Undertake kitchen based duties as required by the Coffee Shop Manager.

15. Undertaking any other tasks commensurate with the post as requested by the Coffee Shop Manager
