Children’s Ministry Student Leader Training

Dear Student Leader,

We are so thankful that you are interested in serving in Children’s Ministry at Central Presbyterian Church. We hope that your skills will increase and your relationship with God is stronger as a result of your service with us.

We pray that you will know that you are not just serving the children and families of our church, but you are serving Jesus Christ. We look forward to serving alongside you.

Age Requirements to Serve:

Sprouts – Infants (Beginning Walkers & younger)

Students ages 16 & older must demonstrate childcare skills to Children’s Ministry staff before being approved for service with our infants.

Sprouts – Toddlers (Steady Walkers – age 2)

Students must be at least 7 years old and accompanied by a parent until they are 13 years old in order to serve with our toddlers.

The Backyard (Ages 2 – Kindergarten), The Treehouse (1st-3rd Grade)Route 45 (4th & 5th Grade)

Students may serve without a parent and must be at least 5 years older than the age group they desire to work with.

Expectations:

  • Commit to serve as often as you (or your parent) have agreed to serve (weekly, every other week, or once a month). We are depending on you!
  • Arrive on time (at least 15 minutes before the service begins) and stay until the end of class.
  • Notify your Team Leader if you will be absent.
  • Be a part of the ministry team in your classroom. Participate in the lesson and worship and engage with the children. If they see you participating and engaged, they will copy you.
  • Put cell phones and other electronics away so that you can fully engage with the class.
  • Be a positive role model and Christ-like example for children wherever you are: in the classroom, other places at church, and at school. The children look up to you!
  • Dress appropriately (you may be on the floor and need to be modest at all times).
  • Attend training sessions to sharpen your skills, offer ideas and get to know your team.
  • Attend worship services on a regular basis. Your service with us is not a substitute for attending worship.

Our commitment to you:

  • We will be available to you for training, questions, ideas, supplies, resources and support.
  • We will pray for you and your investment in the lives of the children you serve.
