DUTIES – Responsible for workers’ compensation claims, maintain OSHA injury/illness logs, assist in safety training programs. A strong knowledge of Excel, Word and Windows is required. This position reports directly to the Safety/Workers’ Compensation Manager.

  • Establish and maintain a good rapport with co-workers.
  • Inspire a safety culture that creates a safe work environment throughout the organization.
  • Provide customer service to injured employees.
  • Keep current on changes in the Workers’ Compensation system in California and AZ.
  • Guide, train and advise management on proper injury investigation techniques and completion of incident report forms.
  • Review incident reports and report all new work injuries for Salinas and Brawley districts.
  • Communicate with current and prior workers’ compensation carriers, injured employees, management, physicians and attorneys to provide/gather information as needed.
  • Manage workers’ compensation files for all work injuries in the organization.
  • Assist departments in the determination of appropriate modified duty assignments.
  • Maintain OSHA injury/illness logs (300 & 300A) for Salinas, Cooler & Brawley.
  • Attend claims reviews of open claims with current and past carriers.
  • Analyze claims and loss control data to identify injury trends and prevention.
  • Assist in coordination of Safety Training Programs and Safety Incentive Programs.
  • Distribute personal protective equipment.
  • Coordinate CPR/First Aid trainings.
  • Maintain training records using various spreadsheets and computer programs.
  • Keep current with changes/updates of governmental postingsand update required postings.
  • Prepare required and special reports as needed.
  • Document translationEnglish/Spanish.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of Microsoft desktop products including Excel and Word
  • Excellent customer service skills on the phone and in person
  • Organized team player who works well with a variety of people with a minimum of supervision
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment and handle pressure while managing multiple tasks
  • 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
  • Work schedule may include OT and weekends
  • Available for occasional overnight travel
  • Regular and consistent attendance required
  • Valid driver license and clean record
  • Workers’ Compensation experience helpful
