Chapter Objective: To trace the political and social changes after World War I and throughout the decade of the 1920s.

Section 1: Americans Struggle with Postwar Issues

Main Idea: A desire for normalcy after the war and a fear of communism and “foreigners” led to postwar isolationism

Objective: Summarize the reaction in the United States to the perceived through of communism.

Objective: Explain how urbanization created a new way of life that often clashed with the values of traditional rural society.
