Day One
Assign books and record book numbers.
View 2 20-minute videos from “Shakespeare in American Communities” and instruct students to take notes.
Assign “Fun with Shakespeare” worksheets.
Day Two
Show my Shakespeare and Julius Caesar PowerPoint Presentation.
Hand out PPT notes to students.
Show students interesting portions of books on the topics of Ancient Rome and Shakespeare.
Day Three
Discuss video notes and worksheet answers (from day one) and collect for a grade.
Assign reading in books on pages 200-207: “The Life of Julius Caesar”. Instruct students to take notes over the reading.
Day Four
Complete a quiz over the assigned reading and the PPT presentation (open note).
Hand out the play’s study guide questions and discuss the study format and reading guidelines.
Hand out the vocabulary and quote packet and complete one of each as an example.
Visit sparknotes.com online and show students the “No Fear Shakespeare: Julius Caesar” section for reference.
Explain the use of the classroom set of No Fear Shakespeare: Julius Caesar books.
Day Five
Hand out “Act One Vocabulary” and read it together.
Hand out “Act One Plot Summaries” and read them together.
Assign “Act One Character Development” worksheets (due at the end of Act One).
Work on reading Act One and completing vocabulary and quotes.
Day Six
Begin listening to Act One on tape.
