SEASON UPDATE
The Club has commenced the 2014-15 Season with 17 teams from u7s to u18s and a healthy u5/6 age group. The u9s team has room for additional players, otherwise all other age groups are now full.

We have a record number of Level 1 coaches this season, with several attendees having either just completed a course or booked on a forthcoming course, and our u16 helpers have settled in to their roles on a Saturday morning and are enjoying gaining the experience from assisting with coaching, helping set up, manning the tuck shop and refereeing.

CLUB SPONSORS
Thank you to those who have come forward to sponsor new match kit for our teams, some kits have been handed down and have now seen better days!
WildWood Installations – u8s, Santander – u9s, Roc Tecnologies & Macdonalds Charter Standard Free Kit – u10s, Box Associates – u12s, Paynes Heating, Alpha Heating & Valiant Boilers - u14sKYL.

The u11s and u13s Wolves team could really do with new match shirts. If anyone is interested in sponsoring, please contact Trudi O’Neill for further details.

OCTOBER HALF TERM FOOTBALL COURSE
The Club is running a one-day course on Thursday 30th October at Sparrows Green. Please see club website under holiday courses for booking form/details.

FA MENTORING

Wadhurst JFC has been successful in applying to be part of the FA Mentoring Programme.
The Programme is a major investment to the grassroots coaches within FA Charter Standard Community and Development Clubs. The programme will be delivered over a four year period, each club will receive 50 hours of mentoring during the course of a season by an FA employed Club Mentor, to support coaches in their personal development and enable them to become better coaches.

We are one of only 3 football clubs in the whole of Sussex to be offered this resource. Our Mentor, Ian Hickley-Smith, a highly qualified football coach, will support our coaches not only in the training sessions but also on match day situations. During the course of the season Ian will help every age group. He has already attended Saturday morning training sessions at Sparrows Green and is very impressed with our Club.

Ian isn’t there to critique our coaches, or assess them in any way. He is there to help them to maximise their potential and develop their skills to be the coach they want to be. Ian will draw on his experience from working with professional coaches and footballers to pass on tips and suggestions to our coaches. This will be of immense value to our coaches and players.

HOLLAND TOUR 2015

Although we are only in October it is time to turn our attention to the Club’s annual overseas tour to Holland which will take place from Friday 22nd to Monday 25th May 2015.

We have been invited to OSV Oud-Beijerland once again and plans are taking shape for the visit to RSV Zestienhoven on the Saturday. A reminder about the age bands in Holland

Age Band C – players born in 1999 – 2000
Age Band D – players born in 2001 – 2002
Age Band E – players born 2003 – 2004

Apart from last year’s U15s we tend to mix our age groups to fit these bands. Last May nearly all of the U15s came on tour – it is the last year they can join in as they have their GCSEs during the U16s school year – and what a memorable weekend that was! (see winning team photo on club website). Once we have a better idea of how many players we will have from the different squads then we will be able to allocate the players to the Dutch age bands

In previous years we haven’t taken players younger than 9 on tour so haven’t been fielding teams in the F band. However if there is interest from the U8s or U9s then we can accommodate them, no problem

The football is only part of the weekend. It is a great opportunity to mix with players and parents from the other age groups. We will be staying at the same resort as last May, the Aquadelta resort, which has a swimming pool, tennis courts, crazy golf, a couple of eateries and, of course, a bar. It is walking distance from the old town of Bruinesse which has an impressive collection of restaurants.

Unfortunately the Champions League final doesn’t fall on the Saturday (it is not until June 6th next year!) but we will not let that spoil the fun.

The price should be the same as last year, £65pp, with the proviso that it is dependent upon the numbers. Last May there were over 100 of us so we could negotiate some good rates. If you would like to book your place on tour or would like to find out more information about it then call John or Nicky Maxfield.

If you are undecided and need persuading, simply ask anyone who went along last May!

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE & CELEBRATION EVENING
The Club has decided to hold a different, non-music event this winter to celebrate the events and achievements of the club which both players and parents are invited to. The Christmas Raffle will include cash prizes, with the fundraising going towards the purchase of a set of mobile goals for Sparrows. Tickets will be on sale on the night and at training sessions.
