JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial information that conforms to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the team in specified areas to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities and will also provide analysis of financial information to be used by management to make strategic business decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
· Responsible for month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation.
· Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information and an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
· Assists accounting team in the day to day operations of the department, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, equipment fleet management, inventory management and general ledger.
· Responsible for preparation and compliance with all audits.
· Prepares and reviews procedures for equipment repair and maintenance cost accounting and fleet financial analysis.
· Assures that effective communications are maintained within all areas of accounting.
· Responsible for the timely submission of all taxation reporting with government or regulatory agencies and that there is compliance with federal and state laws (including, but not limited to tax).
· Coordinates and implements training for staff in accounting software programs as needed.
· Responsible for assisting in the management of established systems, controls and operational data to ensure data integrity and accuracy, including any system implementation or upgrades.
· Initiates and assists in any implementation of improvements to the mapped accounting processes.
· Support Controller and Assistant Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
· Supports budget and forecasting activities.
· Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
· Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
· Responds to inquiries from the CFO, Controller, and other managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
· Work with the Controller and Assistant Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
· Assist in the organizational security in accounting software and electronic data.
· Assist with recruiting, training and evaluating accounting staff.
· Assist with incoming telephone calls
· Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The accounting manager will supervise some accounting staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITIES
· Strong personnel management skills and ability to enforce Federal, State and company labor and employment regulations.

· Advanced knowledge and skills in computerized accounting systems and knowledge of company-specific software. Proficiency in standard computer software, application programs and e-mail. Typing 40 wpm and 10-key by touch.
· Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information. Ability to use judgment and discretion.
· Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
· Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
· Ability to provide leadership, counsel, motivation, and administer constructive performance reviews to staff, securing their commitment to Calista’s goals.
· Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
· Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
· Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment
· Willing to take on-going educational courses to stay technically current.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
· In addition to education, this position requires three (3) years accounting experience in a progressively responsible position.
· Valid state Driver’s License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Equipment’s driving policy.
· Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
