UNCW ART CLUB CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I - NAME
The name of this organization is UNCW Art Circle.
ARTICLE 11 - AFFILIATION
This organization is not affiliated with any local, state, national, or international organizations.
ARTICLE 111 - PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization is: 1 ) to bring students together outside of class
in order to share and exchange experiences and information concerning the
visual arts. 2) to provide continuing education in the visual arts.
ARTICLE IV - ADHERENCE
This organization will adhere to all University rules, regulations, and policies, as
well as to all local, state, and federal laws.
ARTICLE V - MEMBERSHIP
I. Membership is open to all UNCW students with an interest in the visual arts. UNCW Students majoring or minoring in Studio Art or Art History are automatically members of the Art Club.
II. Non-exclusionary Membership Clause.
This organization practices an open membership policy for members of the university community without regard to race, color, age, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation. Membership and participation in this student organization is also open without regard to gender, unless exempt under Title IX. Membership in this organization may be limited to the individuals who affirm the belief of the stated mission of this organization which is directly reflected in the purpose and objectives as stated in this constitution.
ARTICLE Vl - ADVISOR
The advisor(s) of this organization will be a faculty member(s) of the Art/Art
History Department. At least one advisor will be a full-time faculty member. Co-advisors may be part-time. Selection of the advisor(s) will be by appointment of the Department Chair in the semester preceding the term. Advisor(s) will have a general familiarity with the visual arts professions and have the ability to counsel and guide the organization with regard to University Administrative policy and procedures. All Club events am subject to the advisors and Department Chair’s approval.
ARTICLE Vll - OFFICERS
1. The officers of this organization shall include president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
11. The duties of the officers shall be:
PRESIDENT - shall be responsible for the organization of art shows, exhibitions and fund raising. The president shall also assume responsibility for conducting the financial business of the organization.
VICE PRESIDENT -shall be responsible for assisting the president with his/her duties and will assume the president’s responsibilities during his/her absence.

SECRETARY - shall be responsible for the taking of minutes at organization
meetings, preparation of materials promoting the club’s activities, such as press releases, flyers and banners, and preparation of the activity calendar.
TREASURER - shall be responsible for reconciling bank statements and maintaining the constitution.
111. Officers may be removed from office for non-fulfillment of duties and/or for not abiding by the articles of this constitution.
ARTICLE VlII- COMMITTEES
Committees can be formed by the membership to assist the officers in the activities of the club. The officers must approve all committees.
ARTICLE IX - AMENDMENTS
This document may be amended upon a vote of 2/3 of assembly no less than 10 days after members have been notified by a publicly posted written notice of any proposed amendments to this constitution and its by-laws.
ARTICLE X - NON-PROFIT CLAUSE
Said organization is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, education, and scientific purpose, including for such purposes, the making of distribution to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
No part of the earning of the organization shall inure to the benefit of its members, directors, officers, or other persons except that the organization shall be authorized to be empowered to pay reasonable compensation services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the exempt purposes of the organization.
In the event of dissolution, the residual assets of the organizations will be turned over to one or more organizations with similar purpose or to one or more organizations described in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
