Salary Grade: Salary Scale 5 Point 22 –25 (£22,290 - £24,268) (Pro rata £17,363- £18,903p.a.)
Hours of Work: 32½ hours per week, 39 weeks per annum term time only

Reports to:
- Assistant Head teacher-Inclusion & Equalities
- EAL-TLL
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the EAL Team including school staff & supporting the Inclusion Director in delivery and coordination of EAL provision wholeschool as directed by the Assistant Head teacher & EAL-TLL.
Job Purpose:
- To assist the Assistant Head teacher,EAL- TLL & the EAL Team with planning, coordination & delivery of EAL provision
- To assist class teachers with the management, education, supervision and welfare of all children in the class including EAL pupils
- To assist in the coordination & delivery of key EAL & Minority Ethnic interventions like the EAL Induction ,ACES,Interpreter Provision during ARD/W and also assist in maintaining & updating records of BTA timetables centrally in order to ensure that there is smooth running of operations within the EAL team
- To record, maintain curriculum resources & follow up on financial transactions like invoices & purchase order forms and communicate with Finance as and when necessary
- Type up minutes of meetings including EAL Team Meetings as directed by the Assistant Head teacher and provide and provide administrative support for the department
Duties:
1)Provide support to pupils under the direction of the class teacher including the following:
a)Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to their individual needs.
b)Help children to learn as effectively and independently as possible, both in group situations and on their own, eg. clarify and explain instructions: ensure children are able to use the equipment and materials: hear children read, assist where children are uncertain e.g. with meanings of words, spelling, handwriting, presentation
c)Help pupils to concentrate and finish the work set
d)Ensure that children are aware of the School’s behaviour policy, and support children complying with that policy
e)Assist the form tutor or deliver Form Time Reading Intervention during Form Time.
f) invigilate examinations during peak exam periods, administer routine tests and undertake marking of pupils’ work
2)Provide support to teachers, including the following:
a)Liaise and plan with the Assistant Head teacher & EAL-TLLand mainstream teachers in making support effective and efficient
b)Work with the class teacher to use appropriate strategies and approaches to assist pupils to achieve learning goals
c)When appropriate, to contribute to the planning and review of lessons for the class carried out by the class teachers and other professionals
d)Assist with the preparation of teaching materials, and help to put out and tidy away materials and equipment required in lessons
e)Monitor, assess and record pupils’ progress, achievements and responses in respect of all learning activities and teaching programmes as directed by the Assistant Head teacher & EAL-TLL
f)Provide detailed feedback to the teacher on pupil progress, achievements, and problems, and under guidance of the teacher provide feedback to pupils on their progress and achievements
3)Support the school including:
a)Establish and develop constructive relationships with parents/carersof EAL students, and appreciate and support other professionals
b)Attend Parents' Evenings and EAL departmental meetings
c)Undertake planned supervision of pupils’ out of school hours learning activities
d)Help to escort children on educational visits
e)Administer first aid, carry out simple medical procedures in line with LEA guidelines
f)Attend relevant in-service training in paid time
General Overview:
