Velasco Joins Porter Wright
Dayton, OH — March 8, 2006 — Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP announces that Mark K. Velasco has joined the firm’s Dayton office as of counsel. Velasco, 37, practices in the area of business transactions, technology transactions, and intellectual property. He has extensive experience in complex technology transactions; representing clients in software licensing and development; information technology outsourcing; and custom network, Internet and telecommunications service agreements. He is also a seasoned transactional attorney, representing clients in mergers and acquisitions, general corporate matters, and business formation.
Velasco’s technology industry experience includes serving as the General Counsel and chief legal officer of CompuServe Network Services, where he oversaw all legal functions of the company’s private network and Internet business with approximately $750 million in annual gross revenue.
Velasco is a graduate of Andrews University (magna cum laude and honors, 1990) and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law (J.D., 1993). He is admitted to the Bar in Ohio. Velasco is an active member of the Dayton community, serving on the board of trustees of Spring Valley Academy and the Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church, as a member of the Good Neighbor House 2005 Golf Tournament Committee and Chairman of the 2004 Golf Tournament Committee, and as an assistant coach in the Centerville Baseball League. He is also a former member of Kettering Adventist HealthCare, the oversight body of the Kettering Medical Center Network.
