Purpose

To provide instructions for the ordering / resulting of the Point of Care HbA1c Quality Control in the Meditech computer system.

Scope:

Quality control on HbA1c will be performed weekly, with each new lot# or shipment of kits.

Procedure

§  Log and select SCH (Scheduling)

§  select Lab POCT Testing icon from the main desktop

§  select Quality Control Desktop

§  from the Enter Lab QC specimen screen at Control field: enter in the QC mnemonic of the control required to enter (DCA NORM or DCA ABNORM)

§  at Specimen Date: enter in the specimen date (the current date will default in)

§  at Time: enter in the specimen time ( the current time will default in)

§  at Number field: leave default NEXT

§  at Lot# field: The Active lot# will default in

§  at Test field: enter POC.HBA1c (or enter POC , F9 lookup and select POC.HBA1c)

§  File(F12)

§  Message: LAB QC SPECIMEN:2109:PC000001Q " will display (Specimen number, suffixed with a Q to indicate a Quality Control specimen), click Close

§  at Confirmation Do you want to enter results? enter YES to enter results.

§  The QC Enter Results Screen appears to allow you to enter the results of the tests run on the specimen.

§  This routine allows you to enter the results of QC specimens, file and verify them

§  At the Enter/Edit Lab QC Results Screen: key in the results for the tests ordered on the QC specimen

§  Once result is entered File(F12)

§  If the QC results are acceptable no message will display. If the QC results fail testing cannot continue and the laboratory must be contacted for assistance.

§  At File QC Results Screen: select Verify All Results

§  File(F12)

§  Results will be filed
