Shepherd’s Cross Navajo Weaving Class – Weekend Retreat

January 12, 13 & 14 – Thursday, Friday & Saturday20178:30 am – 3:30 pm

  • Learn how to Navajo Weave in one weekend. This is a basic weaving class.
  • From 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Participants may stay until 5:30 to practice if desired.
  • Each participant will take home many finished products. We provide materials.
  • Bring a sack lunch each day. We provide snacks and beverages at two break times each day.
  • Class minimum of two people. Class max of 8 people.
  • Our classes go a step farther - we teach some history of fiber arts, and practical technology.
  • Retreat Fee: $299. No hidden fees, rental fees or materials fees. All are included in the weekend package.
  • Participants will need to bring their own loom with them. Participants will be given a design for building their own loom to bring with them if they do not have a loom. Additionally, we will be available to assist with building looms the week preceding the class if participants need assistance. OR rent a loom from us for $100.

  • Retreat held at Shepherd’s Cross, an authentic working farm, just north of Claremore OK on Scenic Route 66.
  • Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing the wool from their 200 sheep on site.
  • Retreats are augmented by hands on learning tools available in the Educational Farm Museum, and with a collection of fiber arts from around the world.
  • Shepherd’s Cross is the only Animal Welfare Approved sheep farm in Oklahoma and processes the only Animal Welfare Approved fiber sold in the U.S. (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, natural)
  • Heart of the Shepherd, the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world.
  • Other Fiber Arts Classes are offered on an individual or group basis throughout the year.
  • Advanced Classes available upon request.
  • Come to the farm and enjoy the peace of a few hours spent in the country.
  • The Bible Garden is available for guided or self-guided tours; audio or visual or both.
  • Shepherd’s Shop, a quaint country gift shop, is an event in itself - featuring a host of festive fall, handmade and farm related gifts and wares from many gifted artisans; a year round “craft fair”. Gift shop open every week from 8:30 – 5:30 Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
  • Shepherd’s Cross is home to Heart of the Shepherd Inc., a public, non-profit Christian organization (501-C3) that teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming and gardening. Biblical references are found throughout the farm experience.
  • Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritoruism facility, a Made in Oklahoma Company, a member of the Claremore Farmer’s Market, an Animal Welfare Approved sheep farm, a producer for and distribution site for the Oklahoma Food Co-op.
