Semester 2 Week 7 Newsletter- Grade 2

(March 26th - March 31st)

This Past Week’s Events

This past week we continued our unit on Our Five Senses. Students began to learn about the sense of smell and the sense of taste. The students also continued to learn more about using adjectives. They used adjectives to describe what they can smell and taste. We also had our school sports day on Wednesday! We were lucky we had such perfect weather for all that running.

Next Week’s Expectations

The teachers would like to remind parents that next week will be a short school week due to the public holidays. There will not be a newsletter published next week. We will be continuing our unit on Senses next week. On the week of April 9th-13th, we will also be starting mid-term exam preparation and review.

We will continue to review a set of past tense words that students can use when describing what they did on their weekend in their diary entry. These words include:

ate, touched, felt, came, went, watched, played, slept, woke, wrote

Homework

We are happy to see that students are making a great effort to complete their weekly and weekend homework. We have noticed that some students may need help with parts of the homework, such as the sentences portion. We would recommend that parents allow their children to try to complete their homework on their own. This way, teachers can see if the child needs help and in what ways we can help them in class.

Raz-Kids Recording

This semester, teachers will award Raz-Kids Readers of the Week, every Friday. These students will be especially recognized by the teacher and have their best weekly recording played to the class. This will give the other students in the classroom an opportunity to hear their peers read. Stars will also be awarded to the weekly Raz-Kids readers to promote reading at home. Teachers will also begin to award stars to the students’ recordings as well.

Weekend Recount of Events

Teachers find it important for students to have the opportunity to practise free writing outside of the curriculum expectations. Therefore, students are encouraged to complete a diary entry to write about their weekend (recount). This may include fun activities and interesting foods or places they visited. Please encourage your child to use social conventions and details to describe events. The ongoing practice of correctly using capital letters, punctuation marks, sentence structure and tenses is valuable to their learning progress.

光仁小學ESL雙語班週報- 二年級

第二學期第七週

本週(03/26~03/31)

本週,我們持續“我們的五官”的單元,學生們開始學習有關嗅覺與味覺的知識,同樣也持續學習使用形容詞。我們使用形容詞描述我們聞到及嚐到什麼。而本週三是學校的體育表演會,很幸運的是當天天氣非常好,使得各項活動都進行非常順利。

下週(04/02~04/03)

老師們想要提醒家長,下禮拜因為國定假日的原因,上課天數很少,因此將不會有週報。下週將繼續我們的五官主題,在4/9~4/13那一週,我們會開始期中考試的準備及複習。

我們將繼續複習一系列的過去式單字,學生在書寫週末日記時可以運用這些單字,描述他們在週末做了些什麼,這些單字包括:

ate吃, touched摸, felt感覺, came來, went去, watched看, played玩, slept睡, woke醒來, wrote書寫

Homework回家作業

我們很開心能看到學生們努力的完成平日及週末作業。我們注意到有部分學生可能需要協助才能完成部分的功課,像是寫句子的部分。我們建議家長讓孩子嘗試自行完成作業,老師們才可以看出學生在哪些地方需要幫助,我們在課堂上才能給予協助。

Raz-Kids Recording閱讀錄音:

這學期,老師會在每週五表揚兩位當週最佳Raz Kids小讀者。這些學生會受到老師特別表揚,並將他們的錄音作為本週最佳錄音播放給全班欣賞。此舉可以給班上其他學生一個機會,聆聽同學的錄音。星星的獎勵會同樣頒發給本週最佳Raz- Kids小讀者,以推廣在家閱讀。老師們同樣會開始以給星星的方式獎勵有錄音的學生。

Weekend Recount of Events回顧式週末作業:

老師們發現學生能有機會在課後自由的練習書寫是很重要的。因此,我們鼓勵學生完成週末的日記(回顧式寫作)。此日記寫作可以包含有趣的活動、特別的食物及參訪的地方等。

請鼓勵您的孩子使用主要相關句型和細節來描述事件。這個持續中的練習將包含練習使用大寫字母、標點符號、句子結構和時態等,這在他們的學習進程上是很寶貴的。
