Jonathan C. Moyer, Associate Director, Stanford Research Institute (SRI), International
Jon is an Associate Director for the Mission Solutions Division of Stanford Research Institute (SRI), a leading R&D firm located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Menlo Park, CA offerings range from basic research to improve understanding of fundamental principles to applied research, technology development, system deployment, custom products, and technologies for license. Jon supports regional business development initiatives as well as programs within PEO IEW&S and CECOM. Prior to joining SRI, Jon spent several years in the financial services industry as a commodity options/future trader and market maker for Prime International Trading, trading energy products on the trading floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) as well as a Senior Analyst for Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking. Jon volunteers for the Tip of the Arrow Foundation, helping transitioning veterans prepare for and find gainful employment.
Jon graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1995. In 1998, he received his Masters of Science in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, HI and later a Masters in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA in 2015.
In addition to Jon’s corporate employment, he concurrently serves as a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. Colonel Moyer’s military education includes Signal Corps Basic and Advanced Officer Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College (Intermediate Level Education and Advanced Operations Warfighters Course), Army War College and the Joint Forces College.
Commissioned in 1995 as a 2LT in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from the Rutgers Army ROTC program. After completing the Signal Corps Basic Course in 1996, he held several positions with the 30th Signal Battalion, Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks, HI to include Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for the 390th Signal Company and Assistant S-3 and Officer in Charge of the Network Operations Center for the 30th Signal Battalion, 516th Signal Brigade. He transitioned to the Army Reserve and joined the 1079th Garrison Support Unit, Fort Dix, NJ in September 2001, where he was called to active duty to serve as Mobilization Company Commander. After coming off active duty he served as the Deputy Director of Information Management and the HHC Company Commander for the 1079th GSU, Fort Dix, NJ. He deployed as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 77th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Dix, NJ. In 2009, he deployed to in Qayyarah Airfield, Iraq in support Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as the Battalion S3 for the 395th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, New Haven, CT whose mission included the direct support of the Iraqi Parliamentary elections and the combat logistics sustainment for all of northern Iraq. He was selected to serve as the Battalion Commander of the 1101st Mobilization Support Battalion, Fort Totten, NY. He is currently serving on the primary staff of the Office of Chief Army Reserve with the United States Army Reserve Command, Fort Belvoir, VA.
Colonel Moyer’s military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters) Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Mobilization Device), National Service Medal (with Bronze Star device), Iraqi Campaign Medal (with 1 campaign Star Device), Global War on Terror Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (with 2 device), Meritorious Unit Citation and the Army Superior Unit Award. He is also the recipient of the United States Army Signal Corps Order of Mercury.
He resides in Medford, NJ with his wife Magali.
