Communications Fellowship
Are you good at graphic design and social media? Can you synthesize evidence and put together a stirring sentence? Do you want to promote cross-border volunteering and international understanding? The Building Bridges Coalition (BBC) is a consortium of leading organizations working collaboratively to advance the quality, impact, and scale of international volunteering. We’re seeking a Communications Fellow to add to our team and you sound perfect.
We need to build our audience, recruit member organizations to join our coalition, and become a powerful voice in advocating for service among key stakeholder populations. Our vision is to become a leading source of knowledge about international volunteering by aggregating content from our members and republishing research on the impact of international service.
This position will provide you with experience in institutional communications and will be an excellent networking opportunity as you work with the heads of prominent service organizations. The expected commitment to the BBC is 10 hours per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing a communications strategy in dialogue with Coalition leadership
Building a content aggregation system for the Coalition website and social media, reaching out to member organizations to solicit content to share
Quantifying how many volunteers we represent in the Coalition by tallying the volunteers represented by our member organizations
Maintaining the Twitter and Facebook accounts
Working with our webmaster to develop a Coalition widget that organizations can post to their websites
Coordinating with Coalition leaders to develop a set of awards that the Coalition can convey to volunteers, organizations, corporations, or other supporters of service
Analyzing traffic to the website and engagement with social media and making recommendations on future communications
Coordinating with the memberships team to promote membership in the Coalition
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and visual
Working knowledge of software such as Word, Photoshop, Publisher
Familiarity with the following platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, MailChimp
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Enthusiasm about the mission of promoting international volunteering
