The Hickory Junior Wrestling Booster Club would like to invite you to participate in Ninth Annual Hickory Invitational Varsity Wrestling Tournament on December 9th and 10th, 2016 (the opening weekend for Pennsylvania wrestling competition). Similar to past years, the tournament will be a two-day, double elimination bracket style tournament. In an effort to get as many matches as possible, we place the top eight wrestlers in each weight class. Included with this letter are the tentative weekend schedule, summary of awards and All-Academic Team, directions and hotel information to Hermitage, and contact information.
The tournament will include:
· Placement medals awarded for the top eight wrestlers from each weight
· Championship sweatshirts for all champions and dri-fit T-shirts for all placewinners
· Placement awards for the top three teams
· All-Academic awards for the top 2015-2016 grade point average for each weight class
· Tournament dri-fit T-shirts for three coaches
· Updates, brackets, and tournament information available throughout the tournament on http://kapwrestling.net/
In addition to the varsity tournament on Friday and Saturday, we will hold a separate Junior Varsity Tournament on Saturday.
Note: A significant change in the schedule for this year’s tournament is an earlier weigh-in time. Weigh-in and skin check will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, which will allow teams to leave afterward and get lunch outside of school.
2016 HICKORY INVITATIONAL WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
VARSITY TOURNAMENT FORMAT
All wrestlers will be placed in their weight classes and seeded according to the included criteria. Bouts will not be called over the loud speaker, but will be posted electrically through a projection screen of the bout board, and the bout board will be available wireless though a program via smart phones and internet.
JUNIOR VARSITY TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Up to four (4) wrestlers will be placed into each weight class and wrestle a round-robin style tournament. All bouts will be held on mat #4 in the Hickory High School Wrestling Room on Saturday, December 10th. In the event that more than four (4) wrestlers are entered, the Tournament Director will work with coaches in an attempt to accommodate as many matches as possible, but it will be the Tournament Director’s discretion to choose entries. We will make every effort to set up as many matches as possible, while ensuring at many teams as possible have a chance to participate.
WEIGH-IN/SKIN CHECK
Skin checks will occur prior to weigh-ins with a medical doctor in attendance. All coaches will need to have their Official Weigh In Report printed from trackwrestling.com and any PIAA Skin forms with them prior to weigh-ins. No wrestler will be entered into the tournament without being listed on an official weigh in report, without PIAA approved skin forms, or without medical doctor and/or referee approval. Therefore, the medical doctor and/or referee decision and discretion may overrule signed skin forms.
