Alexander Christian Foundation, Inc.

Residents of the state of Indiana who are members of Independent Christian Churches/Church of Christ (Independent) in Indiana and plan to prepare for full-time Christian service. If applicant is in college currently, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Residents of Georgia, North Carolina or South Carolina who were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21.

Volunteers choose from nearly 1000 community service groups in the United States.

Amount: Educational Vouchers worth up to $4,725 to repay school loans or current expenses.

Auger & Auger Disabled Scholar Award

As a personal injury law firm, our attorneys frequently represent families who are coping with the aftermath of serious injuries and disabling impairments. We observe firsthand the unique challenges that disabled men and women face and see the strength and perseverance necessary to overcome expectations. As part of our efforts to give back to the disabled community, Auger & Auger is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship, given twice a year, to assist with tuition and expenses at a qualifying undergraduate institution.

MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund for Dependent Children of Army Soldiers

Scholarships for children of Army soldiers; active, retired or deceased, are available on request.

Brandon Goodpaster Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be in the “Youth Ministry” major and seeking a bachelor’s degree, have at least a 2.67 (on a 4.0 scale) in high school and any college work. An essay and 3 references are required.

Amount: $500 each semester for one year

Business and Professional Women/USA Career Advancement Scholarship Program

Applicants must be women at least 25 years of age, a US citizen, show critical need for financial assistance, clear career plans, graduate within 12 to 24 months from the date of grant.

Amount: $500 to $1,000

Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund

Financially needy dependents, including children and spouses, of those persons killed or permanently disabled as a result of the attack of 9-11-2001and during rescue activities. Information can be found at

Glaxo-SmithKline Opportunity Scholarships

Any person who has been a permanent resident of Chatham, Durham, Orange, or WakeCounty for the past six months. Information can be found at

GovernorJamesG.MartinCollege Scholarships

Recipient must be a high school senior who is a North Carolina resident enrolled full-time. Criteria for selection includes exceptional academic merit, diverse extracurricular activities with particular emphasis on community service, and evidence of strong leadership.

Amount: Five scholarships valued at $1,000 each will be awarded annually. This is renewable for up to five years of undergraduate study.

Application: Available from the MACU Financial Aid Office in December. Each NC four-year postsecondary institution may nominate two individuals for the scholarship.

Horace Mann Scholarship Program

College-bound high school senior whose parent or legal guardian is a US public school or college employee. The student must have a "B" average and score at least 1100 on the SAT. Information can be found at

Icing On The Ring Triumph Over Breast Cancer Scholarship
Like so many in the community, we at Icing On The Ring have witnessed the devastating effects of breast cancer and its ability to completely overturn a life. That is especially true when an individual is working hard to put themselves through school. Although all college students face difficult obstacles, we believe that a disease like cancer should not be allowed to derail an aspiring student’s dream. Our intention is to offset the financial burden to a student who is continuing to study despite their encounter with breast cancer with two $1000 scholarships, one in the Fall and the other in the Spring.

Leon Bradley Scholarship Program - minority college student

The Leon Bradley Scholarship Program is established to encourage more minorities or persons of color to enter the teaching profession. AASPA believes that it is of benefit for all students to experience diversity among the teachers who serve as role models for our students. Thus, the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) will annually awardtwo scholarships to assist a minority college student seeking their initial teaching certification and/or endorsement.Due: April 15 each year

Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA)

The Department of Defense (DoD) Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program provides up to $6,000 of Financial Assistance for military spouses who are pursuing degree programs, licenses or credentials leading to employment in Portable Career Fields.

Music Scholarships

These awards are open to individuals currently enrolled in a college music program leading to a career in the ministry of music. They are based on merit, and available to members of all faiths.

Amount: 4 scholarships of $2500 each per academic year

Norfolk Foundation Scholarships

Must be from a hometown within a 50-mile radius of Norfolk, Virginia and/or from Martin County, NC.

North Carolina 4-H Development Fund Scholarships

Recipient must be a North Carolina resident with outstanding record of 4-H Youth Development Program participation, excellent academic record, and high SAT scores.

Amount: $500 to $2,000. Some scholarships are renewable.

Application: Available in the fall through each county cooperative extension office in North Carolina.

North Carolina Bar Association Scholarship

Available to natural and adopted children of a North Carolina law enforcement officer who was killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.

PasquotankCounty Extension and Community Association

Application: Applications for all three scholarships can be picked up at the Pasquotank County Extension Office, 1209 McPherson Street, Elizabeth City, NC.

Prospective Teacher Scholarship/Loan

Open to North Carolina residents who are full-time students pursuing teacher licensure who plan to teach in North Carolina. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum total score on the SAT of 900 are required for incoming freshmen. One year of the loan will be forgiven for each full year the recipient teaches in a North Carolina public school.

Amount: up to $17,500 (teachers in certain specialties), up to $5,000 (teachers in low-income schools and who meet other requirements)

The Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship Program

Available to full-time enrolled students at an accredited postsecondary institution who are US citizens, have family adjusted gross incomes for the calendar year of $30,000 or less, demonstrate unmet financial need of at least $1,000 after the financial aid award has been determined and have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or GED average test score between 42 and 52.

Amount: $1,000 to $3,800

Tim Schuab Scholarship Fund

Available to students from Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia. The fund will supply one student up to $500 to be used for books only.

State Employees Association of North CarolinaCollege Scholarship Program

State Scholarships and Grants

In many states, these may only be used in your home state. A few may be used at any school of your choice. The states known to offer scholarships for any school of your choice are Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Vermont.

Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund

This is a fund just for women who earned their high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago, and who are now seeking a college degree.

Amount: 50 awards of $1,000 and five awards of $10,000.

Application: Application forms are available in all Talbots US stores, on the Talbots web site at and in the MACU Financial Aid Office.

Due: March 5 (only the first 1,000 eligible applications received by Talbots will be processed).

Tylenol Brand Scholarship Program

Merit Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students and high school seniors who have made leadership contributions in community, academic and/or athletic activities.

Amount: $1,000 to $10,000

Application: Applications are available on in-store displays. If no forms are available, call McNeil Lab at 1-800-676-8437.

Due: Applications are available November 1 to January 8.

USA Group Scholarship Program

Open to high school seniors or currently enrolled college students who have an annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000 or less. Up to 50% of the awards are for students with financial need from minority groups or with a documented physical disability.

Amount: $750 half-time and $1,500 full-time (Renewable if the student maintains a gpa of 2.5)
