Attached is the flyer for our new fundraiser! Jamie did a great job of putting my thoughts (and LFR) into words!!! I am very excited about our pulling this together and it is going to take a great deal of help from all of you to do it. I will be creating a list of things that will need to be done and you can start by printing out the flyer, in color if you can, and start passing them around to your friends or forwarding them. I have 100 here at the house that I will bring to the meeting April 10 at the Barbour's, or you can contact me and get some sooner! We have 2 and 1/2 months to do this and in addition to helping, I would encourage you to ride it. I will need some people to help Scott with the chuck wagon that day cooking and serving hamburgers and hot dog plates. I will have posters to be hung at feed stores and restaurants. We'll need decks of cards donated and envelopes. I'll need at least 10 people out on the course, one handing out poker cards and one giving a raffle ticket to each horse that completes their obstacle. Marge has already volunteered to work the registration table as she does that for the LFR Poker ride which will take place May 18. I'll need a few riders to meet with me in May to ride the river bottom and

select the obstacle sights. Tumbleweed is letting us use their materials, so the first obstacle as riders enter into the river bottom will be to open and close a gate. These obstacles will all be timed, and Diana Clark has stepped up to provide 5 timers. If you want to serve on this committee, please let me know. It should be fun and exciting to start something new as we did when Cindy Simmons and I brought the very first Trail Trials to San Diego County some 30 years ago now.

I will send the Roster, the Calendar and the Flyer as separate attachments and hopefully that will make it easier for you to print out copies. Please save the dates on the calendar and participate with us, especially at the meetings. That would be great to see more of you at the meetings

Please note the April 10 meeting is at Luke Barbour’s Shortbranch Saloon! This is where the meetings were held back in the early 80’s when I first joined!

Please call Stagecoach and make your reservations to join us on our April 26th-28th campout in the desert. Hopefully it will be warmer and more inviting for you the flowers be in bloom.

Happy Trails to you!

ALL CLUB CAMPOUT AT STAGECOACH TRAILS RV PARK

APRIL 26-28, OUT BY NOON!

We will be sharing the campground with the Lakeside Frontier Riders again. We will see if the “new” clubhouse is ready yet and what the price will be for that and what the campsites will be and the corrals based on the numbers who participate. There may be potlucks in the clubhouse both Friday night and Saturday nights. Day rides are on your own.

Reservations should be made for Stagecoach for April 26th -28th ASAP as this camp ground is open to the public and we have 2 clubs going. There are a lot of corrals, so be sure to state that you are with the PVMR to get the group discounted rate.

Eddie and I are going to this Rancho in Baja, east of Ensenada for the Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-27. If you have ever wanted to ride in another country, we highly recommend this Rancho and the hosts Carolyn and Raul Aguiar for an old time experience! No electricity, just generators and kerosene lights, great food and new (7 years?) casitas with showers and comfortable beds. Last year the whole weekend was $375.00 each including room and board and magnificent horses for you to ride. We now have 8 people going so the weekend will fill up fast. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us or go directly to their web site and check it out.

Hope you join us, Jan

HERE IS AN INVITATION FROM WARREN GIESKE

AND LET’S ALL JOIN IN ON THIS MEMORABLE OCCATION.

In very few words, I will say that E Clampus Vitus is a men's historical organization. They build monuments on the side of the road, or anywhere else, that relates what events took place in that spot say 100 years ago. I am placing a monument this April in the front of the Descanso Town Hall and there will be a dedication ceremony for it on April 20th at 10 AM. Because of the age of the town hall (over 100 years old), the social culture that it has provided for weddings, meeting, parties, funerals, and other community functions, and the ambience of back country living with farms, ranches, parks, etc., I would love for members of the Pine Valley Mountain Riders to show up for this dedication on horseback, and in wagons. Any show of back country living at its best would add a lot of flavor to this gathering (however, do not bring your pet cow). Dress in 1880's period clothing or come as you are. We are trying to capture the small town, laid back, peaceful friendliness of Descanso. The ceremony should last approximately 1 hour and there will be snacks. We have sent out flyers to the community and wish that all our fellow Descansans show up. You may park rigs at the school, or the field by the ranger station on Viejas Grade Rd. Glenda and Windy will be riding out of her house to the Hall and you can park at either one of their houses.

Call Warren Gieske if you have any questions
