Program IAThe Online Tutoring Service—Cost $65.00 every thirty days!

  1. Program IA-Students will be assisted with their regular public and private school homework, quizzes, and tests preparation in the one subject paid for during online tutoring hours (See Tutoring Hours Below)Monday through Thursday through internet online communications and or cell phone using the Tutor Charlotte Website and AdobeConnect. The student and or parent are responsible for making their own appointment requests and the duration of anytutoring appointmentsare minimum 15 minutes to a maximum of 90 minutesper sessionbased on the approval of Tutor Charlotte, The Michigan Administration, and its master tutor.
  2. Tutoring will include interpretation of homework assignments, checking homework for accuracy, evaluating homework with the intention of offering advice to improve the quality of the required responses to the school assignment, and assistance in preparation for quizzes, tests, and exams in the selected subjected.
  3. Tutoring will also be defined as one or any of the following during a tutoring session or while the student is an active student in Tutor Charlotte:
  4. The master tutor will design, explain, and give practice quizzes, exams, and tests to the student by publishing the practice quizzes, exams, and tests on the website, or by sending emailed homework, practice quizzes, and practice tests to the student and parent.
  5. The master tutor will develop homework, practice quizzes, practice exams, and practice tests that will help the student improve, understand, and acquire the knowledge necessary to master the subject.
  6. The master tutor will assist the student in preparation for school quizzes, exams, and tests by providing relevant study guides, online personal one on one tutoring, online classroom tutoring, practice tests, practice exams, and practice quizzes, counseling, advice, and advocacy for the student with the student’s school and teacher(s).
  7. Tutoring will at times be given in the online classroom if necessary instead of one on one online tutoring when the subject matter or concept is universal to more than one student’s needs.

(Note: Each and or any of these methods constitute tutoring and will be selected by the master tutor based on what the student needs or request or what is available.)

  1. The only subjects available as of August 1, 2012, for the online tutoring service are the following:(See List of Subjects)
  2. The student can do as many homework assignments; practice quizzes, and practice tests as they wish or demanded by the legal guardian.
  3. The master tutor will be paid in advance through the website by credit card, or by check mailed to or given in person to the tutor, or paid in cash in person. A receipt for payment will be sent to the payee by email within 48 hours of payment. The invoice sent to the payee is also considered a receipt once proof of payment is received by Tutor Charlotte or the master tutor.
  4. The student, legal guardian of the student, and the tutor shall not engage in any verbal, physical, or emotional abuse whatsoever. Any violation by the student and or the legal guardian of the student constitutes a breach of understanding and the tutoring service will be terminated without refund. Any violation of this understanding by the tutor will result in a full refund of the monthly fee in the month the incident occurred and termination of any contact with the student and or student’s legal guardian. Furthermore, violation of this understanding will also mean the violation will be published on the website with the name of the tutor for 30 business days.
  5. The student will need to have access to the internet, a phone, and a fax machine, to carry on communication with the tutor, which is not the responsibility of Tutor Charlotte.
  6. The $65.00 fee to be paid every thirty days is consideration for one subject-one student tutoring only for any student in grades 4-12 for a basic subject only. Any additional subject other than the first subject paid for will require an additional payment of($45.00) per subject.Students needing tutoring in two subjects must sign up for the two subjects at the same time in order to take advantage of the discount on the second subject. Failure to sign up for two subjects at the same time negates the ($45.00) the discount offer. The student is allowed to have two subjects per tutor at Tutor Charlotte in Program IA.
  7. Program IA-Adult Students. The $75.00 fee to be paid every thirty days is consideration for one subject-one student tutoring only for adult, university, or college students. The student is allowed to have two subjects per tutor at Tutor Charlotte in this Program IA. Adults students have a different set of tutoring hours below.
  8. If the student signs up for the online tutoring and then needs to meet with the tutor in person, the tutoring fee is $13.50 per hour minimum paid in cash before in-person tutoring can begin, and the tutoring is scheduled by appointment only.
  9. Tutoring appointment requests are granted on the following basis:
  10. Completion of practice quizzes sent to the student and or parent’s email. (See Online Tutoring Policy)
  11. First come first served.
  12. The amount of completed homework, practice quizzes, and practice tests done by the student for Tutor Charlotte.
  13. The availability of the master tutor.
  14. Past due payment.
  15. The academic needs of the student.
  16. The difficulty of the subject.
  17. Tutor Charlotte Online Tutoring Sessions Policy Effective August 1, 2012.

Online tutoring sessions are to be given to a current Tutor Charlotte minor student when the following conditions are met by the minor student:

a. The student will be assigned practice quizzes (ThatQuiz) designed by the master tutor or primary tutor, which must be completed before 7:00 a.m. every Monday morning.

b. A successful quiz score is 88% or better. Per successful quiz score will result in the student receiving up to 90 minutes in online tutoring for each quiz taken. For example, if the student successfully completes 5 practice quizzes before 7:00 a.m. Monday morning, the student will be allowed a maximum of 5 online tutoring sessions for that week.

c. Refusal for any reason to complete the practice quizzes sent to the student’s or parent’s email will result in the denial of online tutoring sessions until the practice quizzes are completed. No exceptions. An expired quiz is a refusal.

d. The minor student may substitute a practice quiz for an assigned worksheet, Saxon Math lesson, Interactive Math lesson, or other appropriate work approved by the master tutor or primary tutor in writing or by email.

e. Practice quizzes are to be given on English Vocabulary and Grammar, Mathematics, Geometry, Algebra, History, and Science based on the student’s grade level, historical knowledge of the student’s academic ability, and previous tutoring sessions.

f. Practice quizzes will be timed to be completed in 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 25 minutes, 30 minutes, and less 60 minutes after careful studying.

g. Practice quizzes will be of any length deemed necessary by the master tutor to affect a passing score on a public or private school quiz, test, or exam, or to affect the superior comprehension of the concept or subject matter.

h. No more than 15 practice quizzes will be sent to the student’s email per week.

i. The student may request a second practice quiz be sent for any practice quiz the student does not complete successfully.

j. The parent’s of the minor student and or student may view their scores anytime to see if the student has completed the practice quizzes assigned to them.

2. Online tutoring sessions will not be granted if the student does not enter “a specific concept” in the “Request for An Appointment” prompt on the schedule page. This information is crucial and it is necessary for effective tutoring of the student. It is the responsibility of the student to know exactly what is being taught in their academic classes in school and it is the responsibility of the student to input this information when requesting a tutoring appointment.

3. In order to pass a practice quiz, it is required the student study the information selected by and taught by the master tutor or their teacher. The master tutor or primary tutor will follow the standard curriculum based on international standards and academic skills needed to compete academically on an international level or demanded by the student’s teacher.

4. Saxon Math Requirements-The students in grades 4-7 may substitute one Saxon Math lesson in lieu of one practice math or Geometry quiz (ThatQuiz) if approved by the master tutor or primary tutor.

5. If the master tutor or primary tutor deems it necessary for the student to substitute a practice quiz for “Interactive Math,” then the master tutor will do so at his or her own discretion. This will be done especially if the student needs to prepare for an upcoming quiz, test, or exam.

6. English Vocabulary-The student will be give the practice quizzes with 100 vocabulary words. The first test score must be a minimum of 40% to pass. After taking the practice quiz the first time, the same quiz will be sent again and the student is required to achieve their previous minimum score plus 10 percentage points to pass with 88% or better.

7. SAT Vocabulary must be completed. The student will be give the practice quizzes with 100 SAT vocabulary words. The first test score must be a minimum of 40% to pass. After taking the practice quiz the first time, the same quiz will be sent again and the student is required to achieve their previous minimum score plus 10 percentage points to pass with 88% or better.

Online Tutoring Sessions

a. You must make your appointment requests 24 hours in advance of the appointment. Appointments requests are on a first come first served basis, but are also given based on the difficulty of the subject matter, the student's previous willingness to do Tutor Charlotte homework, study habits, and academic needs.

b. New appointments requests for the week beginning every Monday must be made after 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

c. Any appointment requests for the new week made before 8:00 p.m. Sunday will not be accepted.

d. Please review the schedule before you make appointment requests. The new schedule is published on Mondays between the hours of 9:00 am and 10:00 am.

e. Check the schedule first! It will be updated through the week.

f. There is no tutoring on public holidays.

g. Online tutoring appointments can be as little 15 minutes up to 90 minutes.

h. The online classroom is usually "Classroom 3."

i. If the tutor does not call you within three minutes of your appointment time, call the master tutor at 704-719-0956 or 704-969-0367.

How to form an online classroom and get your discount?

When another student referred by you to Tutor Charlotte in the same grade studying the same subject joins your student’s online classroom for 30 days, you receive a $10.00 discount on your next tutoring bill for every student in your classroom. You may have up to six other students in your student’s online classroom.Payment by another referred student or in the name of another referred student is confirmation of enrollment in your student’s online classroom. No student is allowed in the online classroom unless they are a current paying student.

Other Services

  1. The amount of funding the student has earned from the Michigan Administration Inc., Tutor Charlotte Inc, and Kevin L. Powell, Inc.
  2. The student is entitled to these other discounted services from Tutor Charlotte if the student’s school is in the City of Charlotte, North Carolina:

Educational Advocacy Service (Cost: $40.00 plus $2.50 per mile travel cost). Speak to the master tutor for an estimated cost. The master tutor will meet with the student’s teacher(s) or school administrators as an educational advocate in place of the unavailable parent of legal guardian.

Automatic funding for continued subsidized tutoring in all Tutor Charlotte Programs provided the student adheres to the standards, rules, and policy guidelines of Tutor Charlotte Inc. The funding is based on student needs, academic performance, and the amount of academic work done for Tutor Charlotte.

  1. The Michigan Administration Inc. has an estimated $1,452,280.00 in available funds for low cost tutoring to the general public as of August 1, 2012. Tutor Charlotte Inc. has an estimated $993,650.00 in funds available to subsidize low cost tutoring to the general public as of August 1, 2012. Kevin L. Powell Inc. has an estimated $2,001,090.00 in funds available for low cost tutoring to the general public as of August 1, 2012.
  2. The funding of a student is at the discretion of The Michigan Administration Inc, Tutor Charlotte Inc, and Kevin L. Powell Inc. based on criteria developed by the Michigan Administration Inc.

Program I Online Tutoring Agreement

A. I certify that I am enrolling my child in Tutor Charlotte tutoring program to increase my child’s test score and not for any other purpose and academic knowledge.

B. I certify that I am entering into this Agreement as the student’s parent and/or legal guardian, and or I am the student.

C. I certify that neither I nor my child is an employee or agent of any other test preparation/tutoring company.

D. I understand that I am enrolling my child in a private tutoring program.

E. I agree that my child’s enrollment in the private tutoring program cannot be transferred to any other person or persons in whole or in part.

F. I agree that during any of my child’s tutoring sessions, neither I nor my child will engage in any activity that would, by commonsense standards, be disruptive or inconsiderate.

G. I agree that neither I nor my child will discuss with or suggest to any act that would be considered academic cheating.

H. I agree that neither I nor my child will tape-record, video-record, transmit, photograph, or otherwise reproduced in any manner any of my tutoring sessions.

I. Tutor Charlotte reserves the right to postpone tutoring in the event of extraordinaryweather conditions or unexpected illness of the tutor, or other health or safetyemergency, in which event the time shall be re-scheduled as soon as possible.

J. I understand that test scores are directly connected to the amount of study and effort applied and invested by the individual student and, thus, Tutor Charlotte makes no guarantee, express or implied, regarding the score improvement of any student who receives private tutoring.

K. The tutoring fee is due in full before any tutoring sessions may begin.

L. I agree to pay Kevin L. Powell, DBA Tutor Charlotte, a $50 administration fee within three business days for any check written by me that is not honored by my bank for any reason.

M. If I use another person's credit card to pay for the tutoring fee, I acknowledge that I have obtained that person's permission.

N. I understand that once Tutor Charlotte has begun tutoring lessons and I have signed this agreement, I am not entitled to any refund of the monthly tutoring fee.

O. Student Responsibilities:

  • Attending class consistently
  • Attending all scheduled tutoring sessions
  • Arriving on time (preferably early) to all scheduled tutoring sessions
  • Contacting the tutor no less than 24 hours in advance if unable to attend a scheduled session
  • Students who miss a scheduled session without notifying their tutor will be marked as a “no-show.”
  • Students who have two “no-shows,” or repeated cancellations (more than 3 per 30 days), will be dropped from the tutor’s schedule for seven days for the fourth infraction in a 30 day period.
  • Bringing textbook, notes, homework, pen/pencil, and other necessary materials to each tutoring session.
  • Preparing for sessions by determining what needs to be covered and sharing that information with the tutor.
  • Participating actively in all aspects of the tutoring session: asking questions, completing homework, etc.

P. I Agree:

  • My student will attend all scheduled tutoring sessions. If my student is unable to attend any online or in-person tutoring session, I willnotify the master tutor at least 24 hours in advance. In case of illness, I will notify the master tutor at least one hour in advance of missing the online or in-person tutoring session.
  • If my student is more than 10 minutes late for a tutoring session, my tutoring session will be considered a “no show” and will be counted towards the termination of my services.
  • My student will bring in any homework to the tutoring session and be ready to work with the master tutor.
  • The TUTOR AVAILABILITY is based on the guidelines and policies of Tutor Charlotte.

I certify I have read and discussed the information contained in this contract. I agree to work cooperatively with the master Kevin L. Powell to achieve academic success for my student, or as a student. I understand that tutoring may be suspended or discontinued if it is determined my student is not making an effort to benefit from such the tutoring services of Tutor Charlotte.
