The Young Blood Project: Bringing Christchurch Castle to Life

A Heritage Lottery Funded Project run by Red House Museum, Christchurch, Hampshire Cultural Trust(previously Hampshire County Council, Arts and Museums)

The Young Blood Project is a HLF Young Root Project running from May until September 2016. The project will have a particular focus on the origin story of Christchurch Castle and exploring ways to share that story with others. The young people will work with a range of professionalssuch as film makers to develop interpretative outputs that tell this story in their words. The young people will also take part in visits to museums and relevant sites and support the development of a project blog.

Interpretation Facilitator

We are looking to recruit afacilitator to run 6 x weekly after school sessions at Highcliffe Secondary School, plus attend and support 3 off site visits and events including the project’s final showcase event,and be responsible for the development of the group’s ideas and exhibition contribution. The role will include:

- Planning and delivering weekly sessions designed to equip the young people to develop their exhibition/installation

- Offer creative and practical input where appropriate

- Attend and support all sessions attended by their group

- Attend and support 2 x off site visits andattend 2 x Saturday events at Red House Museum

- Reporting to the Project Officer

We are looking for creative and dynamic individual with strong organisational skills and ability to lead and inspire young people. An interest and skills in interpretation and exhibition design would be a strong advantage as well as any skills that may contribute towards the final exhibition (e.g. Print making, computer programming, 3D design). You must be able to commit to weekly term time sessions from May until July and be willing to attend other trips and meetings as required.

Fee

The role will be paid a flat fee of £2400paid in two instalments.A breakdown is listed below:

6 x weekly term time group sessions (2 hours) from 19thMay – 7thJuly (excluding half term):£1200

1x half day launch event (Saturday 14th May): £150

1x all day visit (Thursday 26th May): £300

1x Showcase event (Saturday 9th July): £300

3 x half day planning meetings(equivalent) and expenses: £450

Expenses for session and exhibition resources will be covered by the project funding and the role holder will liase and report to the Project officer. Any unexpected additional hours will be paid once agreed with the project officer.
