Dear Parents,

On the Week of

______Your Child

Will be a Star!!

While your child is the Star, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our special classmate.

Monday - Poster Presentation:

Please use the attached poster board to create a poster that will tell us about our Star Student. Some ideas to display on the poster include:

Photo of Student (don’t forget to write child’s name in large letters on poster)

My Birthday (photos or date written on poster)

My Family (photos or drawing)

My Favorite Color

My Favorite TV Show (photo of show characters or name of show on poster)

When I Grow Up, I Want To Be (picture of occupation)

My Favorite Pet (photos, picture of kind of animal or drawing)

My Home (photo of house or drawing of house)

My Favorite Thing to Do (photo or drawing of activity)

My Favorite Place to Visit (photos or drawing)

My Favorite Sport (photo or drawing of sport)

Whenever there are no photos available of the item, remember that a drawing is a good alternative. Don’t limit your ideas to the ones listed above; be creative! You and your child can have a lot of fun talking about his/her interests.

Tuesday -Show and Tell:

Please help you child pick out a special item from home and send it back to school with your child on Tuesday to share with their classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose an item that has some sort of meaning.

Wednesday -Favorite Book:

Your Star Student brings one of their favorite picture books for Mrs. Harris to read to the class.

Thursday -Parent Letter:

Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter to school in a sealed envelope, and I will read the letter to the class. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child, write a silly or serious poem about your child, or tell us some neat things we may not know about your child.

Friday – Lunch Buddy and Craft Day:

If possible, join your child for a special lunch on this day. You may choose to bring them a special lunch from their favorite restaurant. Our lunch time is from 12:00-12:30.

Also, come up with a craft project for the class to do and bring to school all the supplies necessary to complete the project. Check with me about things that I might have at school (glue, construction paper, etc.). You may stay after lunch (12:30-1:00) and help the class with the craft project or leave the materials with me if you can’t stay. A project that could be done in about 15 minutes or so would be perfect.
