In Park Lodge No. 449

Plural member with Hope Lodge No. 22 in Yerington

Admitted to Brucite Lodge No. 42 in Gabbs on April 8, 1998.

Worshipful Master of Brucite in 2000

Brother Gale and several other Yerington Brothers came to Gabbs in 1997 and became members of Brucite to save the Lodge from extinction. To that we will always be grateful. Brother Gale will always be fondly remembered for his famous BBQ’s and meals, as well as being a friend and Brother. He was Brucite’s Treasurer for more than 10 years

Brother Gale was precceded in death by his first wife, Betty. He is survived by his widow, Barbara, and two sons Brother Mike and Nick. I will always remember at the Gabbs Rec Hall, where Brucite Lodge met for more that 40 years, he was one of the few who was tall enough to reach the plug-in for the illumated “letter G”. As then as in life he was a generous man with a big heart. Nice to have him as a friend and Brother.

We will miss you, Gale. God bless his family.

Brothers,

I am sorry we did not have a meeting last month as the Elks Lodge was having reception for the Grand Ruler and needed the hall for the day.

So I canceled our meeting, as it was too late to find another place.

This month we will have spaghetti for lunch with all the trimmings.

We will be doing some of the things we should have done last month.

Bring a brother mason to the meeting. If we are going to drive down, see if you can fill the car up. Who knows they may like our lodge and come again.

If you have an idea to improve our lodge, please talk to me about it.

Together we can grow.

See you in Hawthorne.

From the West:

Brothers, my heart is heavy with the news of W. Brother Gale Karels' laying down of his Working Tools. I've known W.B Gale for many years and was proud to call him "double-brother" as he was also a member in good standing of The Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus. He was also a supporter of the DFC (not going to spell it out in this fine publication), which was a charitable arm of ECV. Gale's son Mike is also a double brother; both he and his dad enjoyed their special status as active brothers of both organizations.

Gale served well as Treasurer of Brucite Lodge for many years and always put on an excellent meal. Gale was one of the deciding reasons for my taking plural membership in our fine little Lodge, his easy manner, welcoming demeanor and ready chuckle made me feel at home with all of the brothers.

While his leaving us is a sad moment, I will celebrate his memory, thus keeping him alive as long as I am and I am grateful that his suffering in ended, that he is in a far, far better place than has been the past few months.

Rest well, my brother, you've earned it.

See you all on the 10th, I hope.

It is with sad news about the passing of Brother Gale; he will be very much missed. I have a lot of wonderful memories of Brother Gale in Brucite Lodge with his lunches, his different barbeques he did, and his work as our Treasurer for all these years and his jolly view of life. We need to keep Brother Mike and Gale’s family in our prayers and thoughts.
