This is an innovative and challenging role crucial to the delivery of key national health targets and dependent on clinical engagement. The post holder will report to the Head of Service Improvement within the Planning Directorate. Focus will be on the development of patient pathways to streamline processes, transform services and thereby ensure patients are treated at the right time, by the right person, in the right place.
The Pathway Development Manager will be experienced in change management and service improvement, preferably within the NHS or other public sector organisations, and will be committed to working with and facilitating clinicians and managers to plan and deliver streamlined patient pathways. Key relationships will be with the clinical and managerial leads in the three national programmes (18 weeks, Mental Health and Long Term Conditions). The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of whole clinical pathways with expert knowledge of redesign and continuous improvement methodologies including process mapping, root cause analysis, PDSA cycles, capacity and demand analysis and queue theory. Responsibilities include leadership of pathway development, project management, system wide co-ordination, planning and organisation.
