Committee Goal(s) for 2011:

1.  To hold 5 or more regional seminars during 2011.

2.  To provide support to program chairs and regional seminar teams.

3.  To obtain donated location space and donated food for the events when possible.

4.  To have six or more topics/speakers for each event. (Speakers should include primarily practitioners and few consultants.)

5.  To review and update the Regional Seminar Toolkit with any needed changes.

6.  Continue to update the Education website with more tools for future committee members.

7.  To ensure events receive timely and effective marketing to promote maximum attendance.

Accomplishments/Accomplishments in Progress:

1.  Currently reviewing and revising Toolkit to ensure current contact information and adequate policy coverage.

2.  Currently, seven regional seminars are in the early planning stages for 2011 :

Los Angeles, CA- May 5th, Russell Harder, Deloitte, Program Chair

Seattle, WA – May 6th, Anne Marie Davis, Children’s Hospital, Program Chair

Orlando, FL – May 13th, Richard Sands, Transcendent Group, Program Chair

San Francisco, CA – July 29th, Ed Byers, Deloitte, Program Chair

Mid-Atlantic—October, Linda McKee, Sentara, assisting to find Program Chair

Chicago, IL – October, Tony Ollmann, Baker Tilly, Program Chair

Houston, TX – November 11, Monica Frazer, Baylor, Program Chair

3.  Bob Michalski and Andrea Claire met to discuss documenting certain regional seminars expectations. Andrea will draft the budget and financial expenditure processes discussed, and Bob will review them. Once reviewed, we will submit them to the AHIA Board. Specifically, we plan to:

·  document the regional seminars process for receiving funds and paying expenses, and

·  document the regional seminars process regarding submission of detailed budget information to the Regional Seminars Chair within 10 days of the completion of each seminar.

4.  Provided support to regional seminar program chairs.

Problems/Challenges in meeting Committee Goals:

The resource center has other competing priorities which have resulted in delays in registration and marketing efforts for regional seminars.

A sponsor considered withdrawing his offer of sponsorship after being recognized as a sponsor for a regional event in the New Perspectives publication. The sponsor wanted to provide 3 of the presentations at the event, making it more of a “Protiviti” event than an “AHIA” event. This issue appears to have been resolved; however, to prevent future conflicts with sponsors, we plan to add guidance for working with sponsors to the processes mentioned in 3. above. We may need to consider having a “sponsor agreement”.

Action needed, motion or policy to be approved by the Board:

Any input the Board has regarding sponsor guidance would be appreciated. I plan to draft guidance and work with Bob Michalski to finalize it for the Board’s review.
