PORTABLE BUILDINGS

PART 1  GENERAL

1.1  SECTION INCLUDES

A.  Provide 1 portable building as specified. Work includes, but is not limited to, building foundations, blocking up, leveling, seaming, anchoring, tie-downs, walkway paving, stripping, handicapped ramps, stairs, and all hook-ups (electrical, intercom, sewer, fire alarm, water, ITV, and telephone).

1.2  REFERENCES

A.  Florida Building Code (FBC).

B.  NFPA 70: National Electric Code.

C.  State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).

1.3  SUBMITTALS

A.  Product Data: Provide complete descriptive literature on the portable buildings, including windows, markerboards, tackboards, roofing material, lighting, air conditioning system, finish surfaces, insulating values, electrical devices, and general construction information.

B.  Shop Drawings: Drawings and specifications signed and sealed by a Florida Registered Engineer.

1.4  QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.  Certify the portable buildings to meet or exceed the requirements of the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).

B.  Portable Buildings:

1.  Conform to the requirements of the Florida Building Code.

C.  Provide bonding and grounding per NFPA 70.

1.5  DELIVERY, STORAGE and HANDLING

A.  Coordinate delivery and setup time with project phasing plan.

B.  Protect structure, finish surfaces and equipment during handling and installation.

PART 2  PRODUCTS

2.1  MANUFACTURERS

A.  Acceptable Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with the specified requirements, provide products by one of the following manufacturers:

2.2  PORTABLE CLASSROOM UNIT:

A.  Classroom Units:

1.  One complete factory assembled portable classroom unit.

2.  Nominal size: 24 feet x 46 feet.

3.  Unit:

(a)  New or in new condition at time of delivery.

(b)  Includes, but not be limited to the following; air conditioning, emergency lighting, general lighting, doors, windows, carpeting, ITV, fire alarm, telephone, intercom/ clock (call back button), electrical duplexes, exterior lights (porch), and entry awning.

4.  Quantity Required: One.

B.  Certification: Certify the unit to comply with the rules of the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).

PART 3  EXECUTION

3.1  INSTALLATION

A.  Install portable building in compliance with the construction documents, the approved shop drawings, the manufacturer’s instructions, and at the location determined by the Owner.

B.  Prepare site for portable by:

1.  Removing any asphaltic concrete paving as necessary or required.

2.  Relocate landscaping material.

3.  Prepare for foundation.

4.  Re-route irrigation lines, etc.

C.  Provide pier foundations, blocking-up, anchoring, and tie downs as required.

D.  Set secure in place, plumb, and level. Anchor/tie-down portable to resist wind load per FBC.

E.  Provide trenching and backfilling for electrical utilities, and water service.

F.  Provide construction and connection of communication/intercom system from portable to existing school system.

G.  Construct and connect fire alarm system for portable to existing school system.

H.  Construct and connect ITV system for portable to existing school system.

I.  Construct and connect telephone/data system for portable to existing school system.

J.  Provide miscellaneous conduit and wiring for portable electrical system.

K.  Provide electrical enclosures.

L.  Provide load centers and panel boards.

M.  Provide complete electrical service to portable.

N.  Construct and install stairs, ramps, and asphaltic paving as required.

3.2  FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A.  Test each item of operational equipment to demonstrate that it is operating properly, and that the controls and safety devices are functioning. Repair or replace devices found to be defective.

1.  Demonstrate that the following items operate properly:

(a)  Control devices.

(b)  Power operating devices.

(c)  HVAC systems.

(d)  Switches, relays, remotes control switches, etc.

3.3  ADJUST and CLEANING

A.  Prior to occupancy, clean all interior and exterior surfaces.

B.  Adjust all doors/latches to operate freely without binding.

C.  Verify that all lamps, wall switches, electrical devices, smoke detectors' fire alarms, etc. are operational.

D.  Touch-up marred finishes to match adjacent surfaces.

3.4  MAINTENANCE

A.  Provide maintenance on portable building for roofs, ramps stairs, seaming, etc. on an as needed basis.

3.5  REMOVAL of PORTABLE BUILDINGS and ACCESSORIES

A.  At the appointed time, remove portable buildings with associated paving, fencing, foundations, tie-downs, anchorage’s, electrical and plumbing hook-ups, stairs ramps, etc. Remove portables from the site and restore the grounds to their original condition. Restore fencing, asphaltic paving, sod, irrigation lines, landscape material, etc.
