The CHCC Director is responsible for managing and overseeing Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC), a Healthy Maine Partnership serving the communities of Arundel, Biddeford, Buxton, Dayton, Hollis, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach and Saco. The director is responsible for ensuring CHCC successfully conducts all work the coalition receives funding for. The director will oversee board maintenance, administrative responsibilities (including planning and assessment) for all grant funding and any subcontracts associated with work plans. The directors’ time will be split between the development and maintenance of the coalition and the programmatic Healthy Maine Partnership work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support for CHCC as it continues to develop, grow and respond to community identified needs, ensuring the achievement of all grant funded goals.
  • Connect the UNE community, including students, faculty and staff to the work of CHCC.
  • Research and apply for additional sources of funding for CHCC to grow its mission and sustain its presence in the community.
  • Participate in activities that advance the public health agenda of the local service area, including but not limited to the York District Public Health Council.
  • Organizes and coordinates the CHCC Advisory Board and Action Team.
  • Serve as the CHCC spokesperson, working directly with CHCC Program Coordinator to ensure a strong media presence and awareness.
  • Use educational and promotional materials to reach target populations with specific health information and programming.
  • Foster collaboration with other community organizations, governments, businesses, etc. to strengthen the coalition and the area wide effort to reduce chronic disease, reduce substance abuse and increase coalition core competencies.
  • Recruit additional community leaders, school representatives, youth and other citizens for CHCC as needed to fulfill the goals.
  • Initiate and coordinate media activities and events in concert with the Maine Centers for Disease Control media promotion.
  • Promote community utilization of speakers with expertise in the area of tobacco use prevention, nutrition and wellness activities.
  • Ensure that legislative representatives in CHCC’s service area are aware of the Coalition’s work.
  • Manage all grants and associated subcontracts.
  • Identify important research trends in reduction and prevention of chronic disease and substance abuse and make this information available to the coalition and the community.
  • Participate in training as determined by the Maine Centers for Disease Control and coordinate training for CHCC members.
  • Manage the project’s fiscal and administrative operations in conjunction with the grants management division of UNE.
  • Comply with all reporting requirements from the Maine Centers for Disease Control as required by grant funding.
  • Coordinate the design and administration of the project’s evaluation.
  • Participate in Maine Centers for Disease Control evaluation process. Ensure that data is collected and maintained in a way that is usefulness to the project and to the evaluation process.

OVERALL DUTIES

  • Completes University new employee orientation and sexual harassment training within 30 days of hire.
  • Understands and complies with the University of New England Safety Manual.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Masters degree (public health degree preferred) and proven success in: grant management or fiscal and administrative management, leadership, public relations, public speaking, health education or community education, and community organizing. Candidate should also be computer literate and have basic computer research skills.
