Redding attorney JamesVillarreal is currently exploring a run for Congress as a Democrat in Arizona’s3rd Congressional District and is seeking interns. Duties and responsibilities are described below. In this exploratory phase, James will be consulted by Run for America (RFA), a citizen-powered movement to disrupt politics and reinvigorate government. RFA strategically recruits, trains, and works to elect a new generation of leaders to Congress who are committed to a solutions-first, future-focused, and innovative approach to tackling our major national challenges. With cutting-edge campaigns, we aim to prove that we can run campaigns that we are proud of, and win.

Villarreal for Arizona –Internship Opportunities
Internship Job Description:
Intern will be working on behalf of JamesVillarreal for Congress.
Intern will work in office setting providing assistance in one of the following departments: 1) fundraising, 2) constituency group organizing, 3) neighborhood event planning and 4) field operations. Responsibilities will vary according to what department intern is placed in.
Event Team Intern Duties:
As an intern with the event planning staff, your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Contact potential event hosts
- Research neighborhood events
- Organize and update event calendar
- Provide support during events
- Conduct site visits
Constituency Team Intern Duties:
As an intern with the constituency staff, your duties may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Research varying organizations within each constituency group and creating a list of these groups with key contact names and phone numbers
- Attend meetings with constituency group leaders and taking notes at meetings for group leaders
- Call out to individuals within different constituency groups about upcoming events that may interest a particular group where Lisa Borders will be in attendance
- Attend events organized by outreach team and constituency group leaders
- Make phone calls a day before an event to verify all information
Fundraising Team Intern Duties:
As an intern with the fundraising staff, your duties may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Detail oriented and ability to compile information from multiple sources into one source
- Understanding of and ability to apply local, state and federal requirements for political activity disclosure and reporting
- Ability to make phone calls for various fundraising activities on behalf of campaign
Field Operations Team Intern Duties:
As an intern with the field operations staff, your duties may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Serve as a critical and valued member of the Field Operations team
- Attend weekly Outreach Team meeting to help plan & strategize weekly and weekend events on behalf of the Borders for Atlanta campaign
- Work in the field office and support with essential campaign efforts such as phone banking, door-to-door canvassing and volunteer recruitment
- Support Neighborhood Coordinators with organizing campaign events and various activities around the city of Atlanta to promote the Borders for Atlanta campaign
- Work in conjunction with the advance team when necessary to staff campaign events & neighborhood parties
- Attend neighborhood association & NPU-meetings on behalf of campaign as needed
- Assist field street team with distribution of campaign materials (flyers, yard signs, palm cards, etc.) as needed at various events and programs
Additional Knowledge & Skills:
- College student and/or college graduate interested in politics or gaining campaign experience; previous campaign experience preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel, google docs, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- Organized and quick learner
- Integrity within a professional environment Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask independently and demonstrate sound judgment
- Strong attention to detail and timing as well as excellence in execution
- Proven organizational, research and analytical skills
- Ability to work and contribute in a highly collaborative, team environment
- Understanding of political and legislative processes
- Proven success in a small department with wide-ranging responsibilities
- Ability to reflect and demonstrate integrity, customer-centered, accountability, respect and excellence

Education Requirements: High School graduate and currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate college program. Must have a strong interest in politics with relevant coursework or equivalent work experience.
