Pamela Mia Paul

Pamela Mia Paul is a brilliant pianist and deeply dedicated teacher whose career spans four continents. Her orchestral, recital and chamber music performances have garnered her great critical acclaim for her interpretations of both standard repertoire and the piano concerti of the 20th century.

Ms. Paul’s U.S. orchestralappearances include the New York Philharmonic, Detroit, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Houston and Minnesota symphonies, American Composers Orchestra, Boston Pops and Caramoor Festival Orchestra. European appearances include the Vienna ORF Orchestra, Vienna Symphony, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Berlin Staatskapelle and the Dutch Radio Symphony. Solo recitals include CarnegieHall, Alice Tully Hall, 92nd Street Y in New York City, Wigmore Hall in London, the renowned Musikverein in Vienna and the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam.

Devoted to the music of her time, Pamela Mia Paul has commissioned and premieredtwo piano concerti. The Robert Beaser Piano Concerto, which was written for her and recorded by London/Decca, received its world premiere with the St. Louis Symphony, its European premiere with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, and a performance at Carnegie Hall with American Composers’ Orchestra. Most recently, Ms. Paul commissioned a concerto for piano and symphonic winds by Steven Bryant, which premiered with the UNT Wind Symphonyand is recorded on GIA Records.

A dedicated chamber musician, Ms. Paul has been an invited guest at the Salzburg and Bregenz Festivals in Austria and has been, for more than twenty years,a guest artist at the Music Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Falls Village, CT, where she has performed with the Borromeo, Cassatt, Penderecki, St. Petersburg, Harlem and Miro quartets, among many others.

Pamela Mia Paul is an internationally sought-after pedagogue whose students hold teaching positions throughout the United States and Asiaand have participated in and won competitions including the Nina Widemann Competition , the Dallas International Piano Competition and the Naumburg International Piano Competition. Ms. Paul is in great demand for master classes, which she has presentedthroughout Europe, the People’s Republic of China, Turkey, South Korea and the United States. Summer programs at which Ms. Paul has taught include the Prague International Master Classes, The Institute for Strings, and the Vienna International Piano Academy. In 2017 she was one of five jurors on the international selection panel for the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Holding Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Juilliard, she is currently Regents Professor of Piano at the University of North Texas and a Steinway Artist.
