2.  What were the results of your Market research? Please include who is going to buy your product or service and why they will buy it. (10)
·  Based on our survey, we concluded that youngers like variative tempeh. So, our target market are youngers and family.
·  The reasons are :
1. Teenagers like unique taste. They like to try something new.

3.  Who are your main competitors afnd what are their strengths and weaknesses? Please fill in the table below. You may add extra rows if you need to. (5)

Competitor Name
Who are your main competitors? / Strengths
What are your competitor’s main strengths? / Weaknesses
What are your competitor’s main weaknesses?
Vegetable Pedlar / They sell cheap-priced tempeh from house to house and easy to reach. / The type of tempeh is original, they don’t sell any different kind of tempeh
Traditional Market / Well-known in the city. People like to buy from them because the price is cheap / The cleanliness is not guaranteed
Supermarket / The place is clean and cozy / The price is expensive. They only sell soybean-based tempeh
If you have more detailed information about your competitors, please include it here:
4.  How are you going to be better than your competitors? Please consider your answer to Question 3 in this response.
We found that our competitors don’t have a brand. People who consider cleanliness and healthiness in foods might trust the products which have official brands and from well-known company. We will sell tempeh with a ‘name’. It is Pro-Bean, that stands for Protein Bean. We will introduce this Pro-Bean tempeh as a food-brand from our school. Aside of that, our products are more varied than our competitors. That way, the consumer might be attracted to our product’s uniqueness.
Section E: SWOT Analysis

TOP TIP!

To help you score high marks in Section E, refer to the SWOT Analysis guidance in Weekly Guide 5.
Remember! Your Strengths and Weaknesses are internal to your business and in the present.
\Your Opportunities and Threats are external to your business and in the future.
5.  Complete the SWOT Analysis below. (5)
Strengths – What are your strengths?
E.g. We have a good reputation.
·  We have a unique product.
·  We don’t use any monosodium glutamats or any preservative. We only use organic seasoning.
·  Our location is near to residential areas. It mean larger costumer.
·  Near residential areas mean if someday our small business grows larger, we can hire some unemployment/volunteers to produce our product while we act as a manager and marketer. / Weaknesses – What are your weaknesses?
E.g. High transport costs to market
·  As a student, we have a limit time to manage this kind of business.
·  We only get normal profit in long term time.
Opportunities – What opportunities do you have? E.g. Arrival of new farming technology.
·  One of our junior, Kiki Mirayana, has parents who are tempeh producer. We learned the production steps from her parents. When our company grow larger, we could collaborate with his parents’ company
·  Our teacher, Mrs, Rini Handayani has experienced in producing tempeh when she was living in Thailand.
·  We can get support from our school and our city. When we grow larger and well known, we can get support from our province or even country since we are school-based business. / Threats – Does your business face any threats?
E.g. More competitors enter the market.
·  Since our material is different from original tempeh, the price might be slightly more expensive than the original tempeh.
·  If we don’t get a patent protection, our product might be claimed and used by somebody to earn money and it might cut our profit stream.

Section F: Operational Plan

6.  What steps will you take to start your business? Think about the one-off tasks you need to do to actually get your business started. E.g. First, we will identify suppliers in our area. (5)
We realize that producing a tempeh will take a long time, especially for students like us. So we want to hire some volunteers and coordinate with school’s crews to make it more efficient and reduce time waste.
At first, we can only produce Pro-beans once a week (see: weekly step on number 7) every Wednesday. Tempeh is a fermented food that can stay fresh up to 4 days inside the refrigerator. So, our product will only be on store from Wednesday—Saturday.
We plan to create brochures and pamphlets to inform public about our brand new product. We will also exhibit the product in Food Fair or Enterpreneurship Fair. We will not use any monosodium glutamate, synthetic seasoning, preservative or any health-damaging material because we care about consumer’s health. We will be using organic seasoning not only to make it tastes umami, but also to attract people who consider healthiness in a product.
When the demand increases, we plan to hire some volunteers from the unemployed residents. They will take producing part and we will act as marketer and manager. By hiring volunteers, the production stream can increase. We can produce tempeh not only once a week, but it can be twice a week. We will be able to produce more foods, such as tempeh chips, orek tempeh and mendoan. Youngsters nowadays who prefer fast foods than tempeh will be our focused markets in this part. Because they tend to prefer the tasty food-based tempeh over original tempeh.
We realize that, as a student, our time at school is limited. Our main business is studying. Next year we will have a national exam and most of the team members will have a cram school. We plan to recruit some juniors to continue this business. And someday, we plan to propose this business as one of school’s extra-curricular activity.

7.  How will you produce or deliver your product or service? Use the table below to list the ongoing tasks you need to do to make your business run. You can add rows if you need to. (5)

a)  Product – What is your product?
b)  Price – What price will you sell it at?
c)  Place – Where will you sell your product?
d)  Promotion – How will you promote your product?
1.  Our product is a tempeh which is made from red beans, mung beans, tholo beans and peanuts. Tempeh is originally made from soybeans, but we want to make it different from the others.
2.  Each tempeh will be sold 4000IDR or 0.296 USD.
3.  We plan to supply our products to supermarket, online market, Sunday market, food event, and traditional market near our school. We have special marketer too which is students in our school. They will selling around their neigbouhood. So we have larger place to sell.
4.  We plan to spread pamphlets and brochures in the neighborhood. The member who are active on social media can promote Pro-Bean on their page such as WhatsApp, Ask.Fm, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We could also exhibit our products in a food fair or enterpreneurship fair. We can cooperate with the trader who helps us selling tempeh to promote it.

Section H: People, Profit, Planet

3.  How does your business meet the People, Profit and Planet criteria? Please give an example

for each criteria. Refer back to Question 7 in your Business Idea Template to help you. (6)

Pro-Bean meets the people criteria because it is business-educating activity for the students in our school. When this business grows larger and we earn higher profit, we can propose this as an extra-curricular activity. Furthermore, it helps people getting their income by being a volunteer in this business, especially those unemployment and residents who still haven’t found their job yet.

Pro-Bean meets the profit criteria because the profit will not only be taken by people who works in it, some profits also used to improve this business. If the business grows larger, it can be someone’s full time job. Therefore, this business is not only educating students by joining this as an extra-curricular activity, but also helping unemployment to get a salary. The number of unemployment will be reduced little by little, while welfare-level increased.
Pro-Bean meets the planet criteria because we don’t use any chemical substances that can damage people’s health as well as Earth’s condition. The residual wastes after processing the tempeh will not cause environmental damage since us will.

Section I: Financing Strategy

students and pass the business onto them. (5)

Since we are 12th grade students, next year we will face the National Exam and focus on it. Our plan is if this business grows larger, we will propose this business to the school’s committee as an extracurricular activity. With that, many juniors will join this business and this business will still keep going even though the manager has graduated from High School. And since this would become school’s official activity, there will be a mentor who acts as a supervisor for this activity, they could be chosen from school’s alumni. After graduating next year, we will mentor our juniors who still manage this business activity. Aside of that, we will hire new member from local residents. Unemployment people or those high-school/junior-high graduates who have not found their job yet will be hired as our continuer If our business is well-know.
