33.MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

RESOLVED:THAT the minutes of the meeting held on 7th January, 2003, be approved as a correct record.

34.MATTERS ARISING

Minute 28 - Grant Applications for the Devolved Budget -

Manchester Jewish Community Centre

Angela Every reported that further information had now been received in relation to the grant application submitted for funding by the Manchester Jewish Community Centre who had requested a sum of £1,274 for decoration, table/chairs and the purchase of a playstation, signs and lighting at the pizza cafe.

RESOLVED:(1) THAT £300 be approved.

(2) THAT the application be referred to the Kersal Community Committee for consideration.

35.ALLOCATION OF FUNDS

Angela Every submitted a report containing details of the balances in relation to the Devolved Budget, the Youth Action Key Fund and the Community Initiatives Fund, 2002/2003.

Angela Every indicated that funding which had previously been allocated from the Community Initiative Fund as a loan had now been transferred to the Devolved Budget as the loan had not yet been repaid.

RESOLVED:THAT the report be noted.

36.GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR THE COMMUNITY INITIATIVES FUND

Angela Every submitted a report containing details of grant applications submitted for funding from the Community Initiatives Fund:-

  • Women Working Together had requested a sum of £780 for the provision of community transport and swimming sessions.
  • Youth Start had requested a sum of £1,512 for the provision of a Community Development Worker.
  • Broughton Men's Health Club had requested a sum of £2,040 for the hire of Albert Park football pitch and Broughton Pool Fitness Suite and Recreation Centre.

RESOLVED:THAT the decisions in respect of those applications, as detailed below, be approved:-

37.GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR THE DEVOLVED BUDGET

Angela Every submitted a report containing details of grant applications submitted for funding from the devolved budget:-

  • The Broughton Trust had requested a sum of £4,234 for the provision of training to six local people and the provision of play opportunities throughout the summer holidays.
  • ‘Walking for All’ in Salford had requested a sum of £5,775 in total to contribute towards the funding of a Health Walks Co-ordinator.
  • Women Working Together Group had requested a sum of £973.22 to support women through training to enable them to take control of health needs and to celebrate International Women's Day.
  • Community and Social Services Directorate had requested a sum of £1,000 to provide support and establish costs for community groups/provision of a local community newsletter.
  • Windsor Village Social had requested a sum of £1,010 for the provision of a trip to Southport in August, Rivington in April and November, Children's Ice Show in October and the purchase of prizes for raffles.
  • Broughton Social Network Group had requested a sum of £500 to establish a project for the first six months, transport, publicity/marketing and a freelance worker costs.
  • Community Homecare Services had requested a sum of £2,800 for employment costs in relation to the provision of an advisory/referral service to allow clients to gain help and support concerning all disability issues through a one stop shop process.
  • Women Working Together had requested a sum of £780 for the provision of community transport and swimming sessions.
  • Salford Exercise Referral Scheme had requested a sum of £1,600 for the provision of resources to expand the Salford Exercise Referral Scheme into Blackfriars/ Broughton.
  • Broughton Women's Group - Bradshaw Early Years Centre had requested a sum of £486.92 to establish a Women's Group to enable women to access services in the area/purchase of equipment.

RESOLVED:(1) THAT it be noted that the next meeting would be held on 8th April, 2003, at the Broughton Community Resource Centre, commencing at 10.00 a.m.

(2) THAT guidelines/procedure for the consideration of grant applications be placed on the agenda for consideration at the next meeting of the Panel.
