RULES AND CONDITIONS

Wood Sculpture Symposium at Rylstone, October 29 - November 7, 2015

organized by Mid-Western Regional Council, Public Art Advisory Panel

and Rylstone Sculpture Inc.

DEADLINE: Friday, May 1, 2015

ELIGIBILITY: Professional and non professional sculptors, emerging artists and

students of Fine Arts.

There is no restriction on age or country of origin.

TOPIC: Free, according to artist's proposal

APPLICATION: A sketch from 3 sides in A4 size [210x297] or images of the proposed

sculpture[s] must be enclosed with the application form, as the selection

will exclusively be made out of your proposal. A short description of

the sculpture would be appreciated. Application without illustrations will

not be accepted.

A short biography, a minimum of 3 photos of previous works in wood

and a recent photograph of the artist are required with the entry form.

Artists may bring up to 2 completed sculptures to be shown at Gallery 47

during the symposium. Size restrictions will apply and 20% commission

on sales will be applied by the gallery.

SELECTION: An appointed jury will choose the participating artists in May, 2015

NOTIFICATION: The selected artists will be notified by mail by Friday, June 5, 2015

DURATION: Thursday, October 29, 9 am -Saturday, November 7, 6 pm, 2015

LOCATION: Rylstone Showground

LODGING: Will be provided by members of RSI in private residences.

FOOD: Will be provided by organizers for the duration of symposium

HONORARIUM: An honorarium of A$1000.00 will be paid to each sculptor upon the

completion of his/her work.

SCULPTURE: The sculptures created will remain the property of the organizers and will be

placed in various locations or sold.

MATERIAL: Wood. Each sculptor will be provided with a green, Ribbon Gum log,

2.4 m in length and 50-60 cm in diameter, out of which the sculptor can make

1 or more sculptures.

Sculptors may use other materials, brought to the site by sculptor.

TOOLS: Each artist must bring their own tools including a power saw. The electricity

supply and shelter will be provided by organizers.

INSURANCE: The artists work at their own risk and are responsible for taking out their own

accident insurance or other other relevant insurance.

COMMITMENT: The artists are obliged to remain in the symposium work area during the working

hours and to be available for media profiles and to talk about the piece they are

realizing.
