Firefly 6 – Changes for students
Your school will soon be upgrading to Firefly 6.Find out more about how you can prepare and what changes to expect.
What do I need to do?
Listen out for a message from your school with the date and time that Firefly is going to be upgraded.
At that point, if you use the Firefly Student Planner app, you will need to go to the appropriate app store and download the new Firefly for Students app. You’ll be able to log into it just as you do on the current version and in case you need a reminder, your schoolcode, can be found in your account settings in Firefly (via the web).
We also recommend ensuring your device has connected to the Internet shortly before your school activates the upgrade. This will ensure that all the work on your device is properly uploaded and synced.
If your school doesn’t use the apps, there is nothing else to do!
What’s changing?
Clearer navigation
We've redesigned the menus you use to navigate the site. All of the great resources your teachers have created are still there, but the menus are now much clearer, with the things you want to do more readily to hand. You can easily find out when your next lesson is, or check up on homework that is due soon with a quick glance.
More interactive tasks
Your teachers can now give you more information in your homework, with attachments or links to help you in your work. You will be able to leave comments on a task or even submit your work multiple times. You can also see the full history of a task at any given time, allowing you to easily keep track of your progress and see how much you’ve improved.
New and improved app
We've completely redesigned the student app which is now called Firefly for Students. It's packed full of features and more beautiful than ever. You can work in a way that suits you and your teachers. You can submit work that you’ve stored in services like Google and Office 365. You can create and submit your work from almost any app as well as use your device to take photos to hand in any work created on paper too.
The app will be free to download and available for both iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android.
