Online Financial Literacy
Welcome to Financial Literacy!
You are currently registered with the guidance department to participate in an online section of Financial Literacy this spring that will be running from February 18th until May 22nd. The successful completion of Financial Literacy is a state-mandated graduation requirement; this online class will allow you to meet that requirement while not impacting your traditional school schedule. The course will be taught by current Washington Township teachers utilizing the CourseSites learning environment. CourseSites is owned and operated by Blackboard, the largest higher education online learning community in the world.
Since all of the coursework will be completed online, every student must have a reliable Internet connection. The course will run inside an Internet browser so special software is not required, but the Internet browser on your computer should be updated to the latest version available. While the coursework will be completed online, you will still be required to come to the school to take your midterm and final exam in the high school building. Since we are asking you to come to school to take those exams, multiple days and times will be offered so that you can find a time that fits into your schedule. Days and times will be announced online when they are made official.
In order to get started and enroll as a student in the course you will need to follow the directions attached to this letter. Please follow your directions only as they vary for each teacher and section being offered this year. So that we can ensure everyone is able to enroll prior to the course going live on Thursday, February 18th we ask that you complete the directions and submit your request for enrollment by Thursday,February 18th In order to assist in the registration process your teacher will be available after school in room G-229 on Tuesday February 16th - Wednesday February 17th -Thursday February 18th to assist you. I strongly encourage every student to come out one of those days to meet me, complete the registration process, and get a quick tour of the online learning environment.
If you are unable to attend one of these sessions please contact Mrs. Gill at or see her in Room G229 prior to February 18th.
As always please keep an open line of communication with your teacher so that they are aware of any problems that you may be having with the course work or the online format and can assist you in finding a solution. We hope that this experience more than satisfies a graduation requirement, we hope that you are able to acquire key financial and technological tools to help you be successful in your future endeavors.
