Setting Up New MS Printers – Teacher Setup

For Student Printers: 2

For Admin Printers: 4
For Department/Student Printers:

1.  Launch Printer Setup Utility

2.  If not prompted to add printers click the ‘Add’ icon.

3.  Next window that opens select ‘IP Printer’ and make sure the protocol is ‘Line Printer Daemon – LPD’

4.  For the ‘Address’ type the following w-sch-print-33.hcps.internal :

5.  Set the ‘Queue’ name to ‘fairfield-lp(1 – 5)’ :

·  fairfield-lp1 (SS Dept)

·  fairfield-lp2 (English Dept)

·  fairfield-lp3(Math Dept)

·  fairfield-lp4 (Science Dept)

·  fairfield-lp5 (Ex.ED. Dept)

6.  Set the ‘Name’ blank to what you would like to call the printer (ex: FMS Science).

7.  Assign the ‘Location’ if desired (optional).

8.  In order to use the available features of the student printers you have to select the CORRECT driver

9.  In the drop down menu of ‘Print Using’ click and find the choice named ‘GENERIC’

·  Note it is ALL IN CAPS

10.  In the little window that will open below select the 50BW-2

11.  Click on ‘Add’

12.  In the next window that opens there are a few settings to tweak.

  1. Paper Source Unit: select Tray3 + Tray4
  2. Finisher: Finisher
  3. Punch Unit: 2-3 Holes Type

13.  Once those are set click ‘Continue’

For Admin Printers:

1.  Launch Printer Setup Utility

2.  If not prompted to add printers click the ‘Add’ icon.

3.  Next window that opens select ‘IP Printer’ and make sure the protocol is ‘Line Printer Daemon – LPD’

4.  For the ‘Address’ type the following w-sch-print-33.hcps.internal : The ‘xx’ is the school number (see last page for this information)

5.  Set the ‘Queue’ name to ‘fairfield-adm(1 – 3)’ :

·  fairfield-adm1 : Office Staff Only

·  fairfield-adm2 : Library (All)

·  fairfield-adm3 : Counseling Only

6.  Set the ‘Name’ blank to what you would like to call the printer.

7.  Assign the ‘Location’ if desired.

8.  In order to use the available features of the student printers you have to select the CORRECT driver

9.  In the drop down menu of ‘Print Using’ click and find the choice named ‘Generic’

10.  In the little window that will open below select the Generic 95BW-1 PS(Plug)

11.  Click on ‘Add’

12.  In the next window that opens there are a few settings to tweak.

·  Punch Kit: (2/3 Hole Type)

·  Finisher: Staple Finisher

13.  Once those are set click ‘Continue’

The following is what the Printer Setup Utility should look like when finished. The only difference should be the school initial in front of ‘adm’ and ‘lp’ should be for your school.
